My 07 Attak that I bought new now has 9700 miles. I would love to trade up but really can't afford to at this point. Maybe a few years when my truck is paid. So what should I do this summer to it to keep it reliable for the next years?. I ride easy I think because I've read posts on high mileage and the parts they broke I haven't had fail yet.
I've always done my own service work since day one. Exhust, pulling the skid, etc.
Things I've done. Exhust Donuts twice. Copper 2nd time. SS Y pipes. A few wheels. Woody's 3.125 Gold Diggers,4th wheel kit, front wheel kit, Powder Coated and beefed up arms in skid, shock revalved with big boy, rear cooler.
My track seems fine. I keep an eye on studs and replace them when looking odd. I grease both bearings on the clutch side every year or twice a year even. Change my own oils, etc.
If I keep it should I install a new track, drive shaft, bearings, etc. this summer or hold on?
Oh it runs like a Bear still.

You didn't mention oilite bushings, so that's a must do. Personally I would change all bearings, (chaincase, drive, and jackshaft) and probably replace the chain. Inspect the gears and I would consider all the steering joints. I would also take a hard look at the track. Other than that its sounds like you're on top of things. The thing with these Yamaha's, that people forget, is with this many miles other brands are in the bone yard. Take care of the wear items and these things will go forever.

At 10K, I did the following:

- New driveshaft (ulmer sells new ones with extrovert drivers pressed on)
- Driveshaft & Jackshaft bearing replacement
- All chaincase bearings

Like yox said, you didnt mention oilite bushings, I did that at 93XX and it was desperately needed.

I would continue to do what you have been doing(service wise) and ride it....10,000 miles is nothing with these sleds.

I did forget to mention Oilite bearings for both the skid and A arms.
I figured driveshaft, with extroverts, fully clipped track. All bearings jackshaft and drive shaft. Chain.

I'm in the same boat. I have about 9,600 on my 06 apex. I too grease my speedo and jack shaft bearing every season and they still look great. I've done the donuts twice, replaced the front end bushings, and had all shocks rebuilt once. Besides the shock rebuild I've yet to do anything else to the mono. The bushings still look good and I haven't found any cracks. If there's a new Apex or a replacement model I might get it. If not, then I plan on replacing the drive axle, chain, and associated bearings as preventative maintenance. My original track looks great so I have no intention of replacing it.

if you guys plan on doing the chaincase bearings.. PM bluedave on here. He knows the part no's of the bearings from the OEM supplier that you can get for like 1/2 the cost from yamaha since all they do is buy em and mark em up.

My track still looks good but gee if I'm going to go threw all that work I might as well do the track. I don't want to have to take it down again in 5k miles more or less. I can't see it holding up to 18k miles. What's the high mileage out of these Ripsaw tracks?

Valid point. I've seen quite a few with 15000 miles.
