Buddy has a 2009 600 E-tec that only has 1100 miles on it and a head bolt came loose on it and now the head is warped and a valve sensor went out on it. He is done for the season because they are on backorder for 3 weeks. I guess those engines aren't as good as advertised if the parts are on backorder that means they must have lots of problems or they just have shitty service. Either way I am glad I bought two yamaha's. :yam:
I was at my dealer today getting some stuff for my Rhino and asked them about the new Doo 800 etec (They sell all brands). They said it was freaking unbeleivable. I then asked what they thought the relaibilty would be and they said in the 2 years of the 600 etec they had yet to have an engine problem. This was straight from the mouth of the service manager.

My dealer says the same ever since the 2008 XP, they have not seen any DOO issues, like they did in th past...

And they fieldtested the upcoming 800 e-tec? The 2008 800R is kind of a problem isnt it? The belt problem is still there in every machine. I have a friend who blown tree engines last year so there is problems with the Rotax 800. I dont know anything about the upcoming 800 e-tec... it has lots to prove... I hope that it will not be anything like the 1000 SDI.

Well I know the problem isn't there with EVERY machine. There are lots of Doo's around here and so far I know of only one guy who has had engine problems and it's an '07 Summit...bad cranks. I ride quite a bit with two '08 800 gades and they seem to run just fine, not bad on fuel either.

Okay, not on every machine. I have two friends with 2009 800 XP Renegade and Mxz and they working alright. Doesnt blow belts. But there are issues with the 800R engine. And the belt consumption on some of them are just ridiculous.

Ran out of gas at 133km this evening with my 600 e-tec 2010 engine beyond 10 hour break in. Thank God I had my fuel with me. I was sucking fumes when I got back to the truck. I was driving hi performance all day, but when you run a 4 stroke hard, gas mileage does not vary this much.
