Snow Tech Long Term Test Sleds Nytro XTX

oh contrare monfrare Mighty...I asked you if you could get a xtx for my price would you sell the xp at your price... for sure was your response...but I didnt bite...
Seriously tho Dan...yours is what Id be on if not a Yamaha...I know you'll love it..
and we might all be on the 1200 h.o Doo if the blue camp doesnt get their poop together and slay a sled like they can already!

Reality

I have ridden Revs and 8k plus on an Apex. In short I think the motor on the Apex is fabulous, and the light flickable ride on the rev great. BUT I prefer the motor, quality sound ie the whole Yamaha Apex experience. I suspect if I was a different rider I would want a different sled. In the past there really were 'junk' sleds, now they are all very good and it is preference's. Trade off.

But I still am disappointed with Sled Tech for only riding a few hundred miles - to me show's little interest in the sled from the beginning. They have been the most unbiased in the past. I would like it better if they said all the things they or other riders have done to improve the deficiencies but it doesn't sound like the even gave them a chance. Heck I ride that much in a day, certainly in a weekend.

Hey.... What is said in a PM, stays in a PM...... Trivia... Does anyone know what my original forum name was?

Guys would you please not quote on quotes on quotes ..... back and forth, not too nice to read thru, makes a mess of the post :)

It's still OK to use quotes tho.

WHoooa, Haven't been here for a few days. I thought my thread was dead...LOL!!

Good ,I can chime in again. I agree, I really don't care what others think.....I like the Nytro XTX and it would be one of my top choices in a new sled. That all black one would look great with my black Klim gear. I guess I have never seen Snow Tech write stuff like this and I have been getting it since the Race and Rally days. They were so so on their comparo between the new Vector GT LTX vs. the Doo GSX 1200 and the Z1 ,eventually picking the Doo as their #1 choice. Funny thing is I just got the new AMSNOW magazine and they have the same comparo only in short track version and they gave the thumbs up to the Vector GT.

Anyhow I have a theory. I always used to call Supertrax magazine "Cat Trax". Now lately they have been pretty decent towards Yamaha ...unlike the past. Maybe those former Cat Trax riders are at Snow Tech now. Just a crazy theory of mine....LOL!!

PS: I do remember even last year alot of the Yami 4 stroke riders switching skis and complaining in general that Yamaha needs better skis no matter what model it was. Maybe this is leading to the poor reviews in handling.

The skis are a big issue, as well as the spring/shock/sway bar calibration. They also just don't want to play with the setup. This was my point from earler that they are judging these sleds with the out of the box calibration.

I just bought the latest issue of swedish sledmag Snowmobile. Their article on RTX se was the worst i have ever read.
For example, they said that yamaha changed the frontend geometry and shocks once again for -10.
They then stated that the difference from the -09 was very noticeable! "Better but not good"
This is kind of funny since there are no changes in the front end for -10.

I was actually looking at the XTX even after how pissed I was over my RTX in 08. I gave it a hard look but then I just couldn't risk it again. From reading the mag it seems that they are still in the same opinion I was with my 08. I would love the chance to ride one back to back with my doo for a day to really compare for myself. But until that opportunity arises I have to remain where I am, on a sled I know handles and doesn't do anything goofy.

I was literaly 50 / 50 on an XTX or an XRS 800, but after jumping back to doo in 08 and being extremely happy with my 800 xp I could not risk it. Hopefully this winter I get a ride on an XTX a buddy bought one.

Guess I was up late in the garage working on my shock upgrades when this was first posted.
Never saw it nor did I read the SnowTech rag until today.

No matter...
Not a long term test in any regard.

My XTX should be even better than last year and the Doo heads I ride with have been asking me all summer if they can try the blue XTX again.

Well my snowtech subscription ran out 2 years ago, and they still keep sending it to me in the mail. Must want to get it out there no matter the cost. I used to read it cover to cover, now I look at the pics just like it was a penthouse, and throw it away. Maxdlx

I would not worry too much about critizism from a magazine that is telling you to charge your shock absorbers with hydrogen...
