when i put my sled into reverse, i can't sit on it ...it goes about 2 feet then squats and won't move. is it because of the snow flap or my fat #*$&@. i have to stand on the ground and use reverse for it to work good. i see guys on the rev going full throttle in reverse and for a long distance sitting down and they are ok .......whats causing this and am i alone here?

Sounds like your running over your snow flap!

FIX... Get a short snow flap

DO NOT GO FULL THROTTLE IN REVERSE>.... YOU WILL END UP ON THE HOOD!!

Reverse over snow flap

Don't cut the snow flap off, you will cause the sled to overheat. Mine does the same thing, I thought about putting some aluminum straps vertically to keep it from sucking up, any other ideas?

mine did the same thing but my rear shock spring preload was backed all the way off when i bought my viper so it looked like it only had about 7" of travel and sucked the flap under. i put the spring back to spec and its fine now

I cut mine, looks and works great, I can actually use reverse without studs sticking into my flap. I do not have any overheating issues maybe I didn't cut too much, kept all of the YAMAHA letters plus about an inch, angled the sides ,looks stock. Did this last year to all 3 of my sleds, so I've got quite a few miles since !! Still cautious when backing in deep snow whereas it will damage more than just the flap.

If you don't repair the problem you shall have more than just a torn flap problem, it will bend the aluminum that the flap is fastened to. ;)!

I use a rubber limiter strapped around the grab bar, then bolted to the bottom of the flap. What it keeps the flap rigid while backing up, t flex able going forward. You dont want it short, it will help make it overheat as stated above.

I'm thinking its a combo of the fatass and the long flap. Ya know what they say....once you go short you won't back over your SHiite!! :ORC
I went to a short one after my rotund #*$&@ ruined 3 flaps

I did the exact same thing to mine. Looks stock, and works great....no overheating either. ;)!

COPY THAT I dont have reverse but i do have a fat #*$&@

ROTFLMAO!!!

I've got the fatazz, short snowflap & a rear cooler! This combination seems to work. I could live without the fatazz though.
