after 1800 miles on my 06 rage, i do agree with all of your likes and some of your dislikes. also we have two different applications, i'm riding trails in wis & mich. my ski lift varies with conditions and is not as flat as my viper but a little leaning is a big help, and is much better in the bumps. rear end will bottom(i'm 220) but is very adjustable. change clip postion on shock cam collar-three choices, see dealer. shim your skis for darting. it works. see bergstrom skegs site. as a package i think this is an awesome sled. my wife is very happy with hers too. i guess no sled will ever do it all, everything in life has some trade-offs. good luck

I really like my rage and just got off from a 1,300. mile ride in all conditions,we had deep powder 40 inches dropped on us in 2 days, huge moggles, snowdrifts, other end of trek ice storm, long hard straight aways with temps below 0 and wind chilles 30- below, very steep and twisty trails,etc....Had to set mine up a few times, reset shocks, more carbide, wider skiis will be my next purchase, dual runners,to.No clutch rattle got 1,800 miles so far.Everything was adjustable.Track is louder but it cause the sleds so much quieter.

I am very happy with my rage. I have played with the set up. I put 6" carbs on which has made the front end work well. that was done to eleminate some of the push. I do not dart. I do not use studs. i hit the scales aound 230 and have just set the rear spring on 6. it has helped some on the bottoming. We had a good snow fall this last week and I put 200 miles on over terrain I had bottomed in many places before the spring change. I was fearful as I added spring presure I would loose the soft ride. I was very happy to see I still have all of the soft ride. I have often dialed less preload on bumpy trails instead of adding preload. I am debating going to the stronger rear spring. I have no complaints on the skies. I do not build up any significant ice. I stop and watch it rain on the track. I went with a friend who was on a 700 Polaris riding trails like we had not seen snow for years. We were having a great time until his 2 stroke crooked. He ate a piston or broke a rod. He is tearing it down this week. I loved my Vmax but this four stroke is my new love. One thing I never hear as a positive is the engine breaking. I like it. My first love is riding motorcycles. I ride this sled often as I would a bike. cut the fuel a little. the clutch is still engaged, let the sled slow slightly as I enter a turn and just roll on. I realize this is in gentle trail riding but I enjoy ignoring the brake until I am chasing a buddy. My only other comment is possibly one should buy a blue Rage, it is their best color.

Why is there no track noise on a long or short track AC T660 ? By your theory of less motor noise the Cats should have even more track noise as the motors are almost silent.YamaSnowPilot said:I really like my rage and just got off from a 1,300. mile ride in all conditions,we had deep powder 40 inches dropped on us in 2 days, huge moggles, snowdrifts, other end of trek ice storm, long hard straight aways with temps below 0 and wind chilles 30- below, very steep and twisty trails,etc....Had to set mine up a few times, reset shocks, more carbide, wider skiis will be my next purchase, dual runners,to.No clutch rattle got 1,800 miles so far.Everything was adjustable.Track is louder but it cause the sleds so much quieter.

Jerry, Cats have specially designed tracks to keep noise down. No kiddin. Next time you see a newer Cat, look at where the idler wheels ride, there are little "bumps" if you will, hard to describe, but they are there to keep noise down. This was one of the fruits of their new NVH lab (noise vibration harshness)

I am aware of the track. My point is there are ways to resolve the noise problem if Yamaha would want to.2007 models show they would rather have you wear ear plugs. Not again for me.DooFighter said:Jerry, Cats have specially designed tracks to keep noise down. No kiddin.
