Well I have sold my Apex and bought a Z1 Turbo. Drove one this winter on a long tour in northern Quebec and feel in love. My Apex had been the best sled I have ever owned. Not once did it let me down, but I never could get use to the drone. With all the information on this site I took care of all the little stuff and had a great time.And the people on here have been helpful beyond believe.I will still be lurking but so long and thanks very much for all the good times.

Who knows if Yamaha comes out with some thing more powerful then a Apex I might be back.

Please report back on how the reliability is etc. that is what kept me com going that route. So will be interested in nan honest report from a guy who has already owned dependable sleds (aka apex)

The Z1's were good sleds. It's the F1100T that have a well deserved bad reputation.

I also got a chance to ride a Z1 last year. I have wanted one for a while now. This one has a TD 225 tune but must not be set up right because my RX 1 was competitive with it. I was not impressed with the frt suspension, it would dive in the holes bad. Rear suspension was nice. I have decided to just keep the RX 1 and put a Z1 LXR rear skid in it. I found one with 200 miles on it. My suspension is my biggest complaint with my sled.

Well I'm back!! I have nothing but good things to say about my old Z1. But I just bought a R TX sidewinder. Glad to be back home.

Well the reason I picked Yamaha over the comparable cat model is, Clutches. I believe the Yamaha model is more Yamaha then Cat.After spending money on the cat clutches they where good ,but only after I had to get aftermarket fixes done.

That's funny...I just read this in a few minutes, so to me, you haven't been gone long..lol!
I agree about the clutches. Hard to believe the belt life on my apex for such a heavy sled with lots of power. Little belt black dust that you typically find under the cover after thousands of miles.
