Just to post something positive on here I wanted to share my day out on the trail. After a long 600 km haul the previous week I finally took the time and installed my cat skis paired with Woody's slim jims.
Hit the trail in the morning around 10 am with my wife and father in law. Wife was out for her first ride with the newly installed BOP MPS set up for her viper ( night and day steering effort!). Father in law was riding his 18 spring order Polaris Pro R 800. Morning ride is good and fast with nice smooth hard pack Quebec trails . For the first stretch of the run I notice engine temps up around 90 to max 95 due to the lack of loose snow.
After I get to a better section of trail I am able to focus on the sleds handling. Let me tell you it was night and day over what I was experiencing with the tuner skis. I cant stress it enough how much of a handling improvement you will see after ditching those things.
Fast forward we meet up with my wives uncle on the trail running his 18 850 etec. We decide to swap sleds for a length of the trail as we have both been curious about both models. I have to say that machine is very light nimble and responsive down low. The machine seems to handle on rails. Im not a two stroke guy but it was not all that bad !
Uncle meets up down the trail at a radar trap.. After giving up some pertinent info to the police he comes over to tell me how impressed he is with the winder. BRP fan his entire life he said he never thought he would say anything positive about Yamaha but he said that machine handled like it was planted to the trail and was just an unbelievable rocket.. power just kept coming and coming. He went on to say the machine really made him rethink his recent purchase. After sharing my experience with him, he stated they are two different machines but he summed it up as he would take his machine out for a day where he would take my machine out for a week long run.
Fast forward time to run the lake. 800 PRO R vs 850 Etec vs 18 LE winder. After we stop both said they couldn't do anything to hang with me. 80kmh roll I just walked and walked and walked all over both. let off at 193kmh " still room to go". I was all smiles....

February 17 I ran a 850 Renegade Adrenaline up against a buddies 17 Winder LTX and he just pulled away from me on the lake. Nothing could do to keep up to him and I was pinned WOT.

No haven't shimmed them yet.. I started and it was a pain so with time being sparse I left the shims for another day.
I ended up with just the 4 inch due to a dealer ordering error and again being down to the wire for time. I will be going up to 6 inch for sure, next round after I install
these on the wifes viper next season.

They handle even better when shimmed. Just don't go to thick like we talked about. With a shim in the back the carbides will wear EVENLY front to back. If you go to thick a shim they wear more in the back of the carbide.
