i have done some research on this topic but cant seem to find the answers to my questions. i am looking at upgrading my skis on my 08 mtx to try and compensate for the ski twitch. i dont like how it reacts on the hard snow, i ride lots of wide open fields, but this thing is very unpredictable and not much fun to ride unless it is a groomed trail and no snow banks.good luck finding that all the time. i have the stock mtx ski, but i am wondering if the deep keel is my issue. i am looking at the C & A mtx ski but dont really want to spend the money and be disappointed in the results. i know a skins front end would be a good start, but its not in the bank for this year so i am hoping a different ski would be a step in the right direction.
thanks for any help.

what do you mean by ski twitch? Do you mean the sled is darting all over the place. Have you checked to see if your front end bushings are all blown out? that will cause the skies to hunt all over the place. If that is what you are talking about you can shim the stock skies and it will fix the darting issue. It made a night and day difference on my sled. Howeever if the sled still seems to have a mind of its own your front end bushing may need to be replaced. With the weight of the front end of the nytro the bushing wear out quickly. You can also adjust your limit strap in the rear to lesson the ski pressure and in turn it lesson the tendency for the sled to dart
Why i bring all this up is becasue there are a lot of nytro owners who feel the stock skies are the best all around ski for the nytro. a lot of people have bought other skies to only return to the stock ski. The OEM Skies on the nytro are loosely designed after the popular pwoer pro ski which is known as a very good overall ski. I have had both the gein II and gen III simmons ski on my 08 and like the floatation a lot but they are quite the workout in setup or spring snow or at slow speeds on the trail becaise of the dual keel design. I have read that CA and curve skies are good for for different reasons. I have read good things about slydog skies as well. It is all a personal preference on what you what the ski to do they all have pro's and con's
In my opinion i would not spend the money on skies if you plan on updating the front end in the near future. I would save my money for the new front end and worry about skies later.

Gen 2
Go Gen 2 and never look back if you dont like the tough steering loosen the front limiter. I love mine had Gen 3 on but I put them on my wifes Phazer as they are supposed to be easier to steer I love the better flotation and they are way more predictable in the punchy spring snow.

it is hard to describe, it does not dart on the trails, it is very well mannered on the trails actually, but when the weight transfers the pressure off the skis under acceleration if you hit some off camber banks it seems to kick the bars around and then it is hard to compansate. i read that a ski change can take care of some of this issue. i wanted to get some opinions before spending the money on new skis. the bushings were replaced last year and the limiter strap is loosened right off to the top hole. it seems to have not much ski pressure on cement floor but you can barely turn them out on the snow at a stand still until you hit the throttle.
I have hand to buy hand guards and mounts every year because one way or another it tosses me off and lands on the bars, so i would like to remedy so of this issue.
thanks

Swaybar
Do you still have the swaybar in? Maybe try with out it or loosen the front shocks up a little?

Mine does not have swaybar but I have fox floats!! They are a bit twitchy trying to hold a sidehill the cure is Skins Concept front suspension but I dont have $1200 to upgrade to that yet so I am going to have to deal with it for now!!
