I want to install my Garmin Nuvi with a hard wire kit to my Attak. The kit has the regulator and inline GLASS fuse in line. What is the best and safest way to get the power. The regulator also has a red light that stays on ALL the time, not crazy about that. I read about a couple options: Direct to Battery and Add a power fuse that has a RED Power line to wire it.

I already have Rocks hand warmers. (Yamaha HID on the sled going direct to the battery

Suggestions of what worked best for you. Thanks

I ran mine to the battery leads by the oil tank. Works fine.

I bought a EDO direct wire that reduces from 12 to 4.5 with fuse made for a Garmin.
Works Great!

Any GOOD free trail maps?

I wired a plug like this direct to the battery and plugged in the Nuvi. Be careful wiring direct. The Nuvi plug reduces the 12v down to like 5v. If you cut off the Nuvi plug and wire direct you'll FRY the Nuvi.

I just used the stock Cig lighter plug and stock plug on the Nuvi, it powers in run only though which I like but some may not. I did have to make a couple of zip tie 'loops' then cinch the loops together with more zip ties to keep it plugged in. On my custom hood I had to remove the the cig lighter from the panel in front of the bars and put it under the hood now. Out of the way and works great.

Everyone is correct you need a GPS hardwire kit that reduces the voltage down to 5V, they sell them all over. I used that in my truck for my dash camera same thing its regulated down to 5V. If you search dash camera hardwire kit its the same thing and fractions of the cost.
