OK, I've "searched" and can't come up w/ this answer. If I am going to hard wire my "cigarette lighter plug" to my battery so that I can easily hook up my Optimate battery charger, what size in-line fuse should I be running in the connection, 5 amps? Also is there a minimum wire gauge too? Thanks in advance,
Rick
Rick
What's the maximum current that the charger can put out?
That would determine wire gauge and fuse size
That would determine wire gauge and fuse size

you could run it up to a 50 amp if you put the right wire in it but if it is just for the charger it should not exceed 2.5 amps so 5 should be plenty if you want to have plenty of power fir other accesories you will have add the draw up of all things that may be on at the same time and fuse accordingly.

Thanks, after looking checking on the Optimate I see that it's output isn't very much, so I guess a 5amp fuse and 14-16 gauge wire should do me.
