Guidance on Flashing TD tunes

Hey guys who have used TD's flashes, I'm in the midst of trying to flash my sled and having issues. One question I have is when you connect your flasher to your computer to update the files does the serial number of your sled show on the files? I'm using a friends flasher, a few weeks ago when we first plugged his flasher there were four files on it, we assumed these were his files (he bought the bundle, I only purchased powertrail) and mine were not yet loaded. He is 5 hours away so he returned home with his flasher, fast forward to now and he brought his flasher again and there are now 6 files in the updater so I assume the 2 added correspond to my sled, its on another computer home in my garage but a couple are guage pack yada yada yada followed by what looks like a Yamaha serial # which does not match either of our sleds. So not knowing if these are supposed to show our serial numbers we updated the flasher with the 6 files and plug into the sled, open the app on iphone and try to flash, my serial number shows up on phone so it is recognizing the ecu, select the flash option and it comes up "online ecu flash" should it not show "powertrail flash", select it and 38 secs later done????

Now I know you will probably chime in and say to call TD!! I have, a few times. I in no way intend to bash or fault them, I know they are extremely busy and if I can get this resolved on here it keeps them from being tied up with me and they can help someone else. It may just be a simple step I am over looking, I'm one of those "what instructions' guys who will never ask for directions. Hoping someone can help. Especially if someone can clarify if the files in the updater are supposed to match serial number of sled??? Then I know if they are then they have just not been uploaded to server yet.

I beleive you need to plug flasher into sled get info and send it to td and they will send flash for that serial #

Flasher scans your sled for ÉCU info. You needed to already have done that and sent to Ben to be able to have tunes to DL to the flasher. I don’t have multiple sleds on my flasher but I assume once connected to the sled it will only offer tunes available to the Vin of the machine it’s connected to.

Agreed. Flasher can hold multiple bundles of flashes but I assume flasher will not offer tunes associated with a different VIN to a sled.

Thanks guys!!! Got all that, my ecu was scanned and the info sent to TD. Before they received my scan info to build my tune there were 4 files on the updater when you plug in the flasher which are the files Ben uploads to the server according to what you purchased as I understand, I assumed these 4 were my friends tunes as he purchased the bundle, now there are two additional, I assumed these would be mine but my question is does your serial number show on the updater file description? For example one file on the updater is SYSTEM PAK GAUGE YM MY18 4UF000000KTID0253 11/23/18 04:48:48 PM , if the 4UF string is the sleds serial number then these files do not match his sleds nor mines serial number? Anyone with an updater on there laptop can see if the file description matches their serial number, if it matches then we know we do not have the files we need, if it is just a random number then we are doing something wrong. It is his flasher not mine and he lives hours away so we only have a short window to get this straightened out.

So just got off phone with TD, all resolved, wrong programs were sent to server!!!!! As I tell my wife I'm not as stupid as I look, was doing everything correctly just had wrong files, Ben put up the right one and it's pretty painless after that. And yes the serial number does show up in the file description, if you don't see your serial # you don't have correct file. Big thanks to TD for straightening things out.

I'd like to see a thread that pieces all of these steps together from start to finish so we can figure this out without having to call TD. I just started my attempt today to install the TD flasher and button. DIdn't take long before I was scouring the TD website for a video.
