Having a hard time tryin to find info on gutting the stock exhaust on my rx. I know there is quit a bit of info on the subject but cant find it.Anybody know?

not really sure, i thought i remember seeing some posts on gutting the stock can to get it sounding a bit more better but the more i think about it if it ends up sounding like $hi! you will end up buying aftermarket and thats what prob will happen. thanx

GUTTING

I gutted my stock pipe they said it sounded awesome it sounded like Bender exhaust! I gutted everything out and then weld it back up I have one extra pipe gutted for 03 rx1. let me know if your interested  :4STroke:

you open the can up. gut everything out an weld it back together? Do you have to change the jetting? Does it help h.p. or just soun  d?

the guy i bought me sled from siad the dealer in bottinau n.d. did it ,and they were pretty secretive about it, my buddy has a bender on his, mine sounds sweet compared to the bender, to me it sound slike a chevette without a muffler, where my gutted one sounds like a stocker but with a little more growl to it, so i dont think you completely gut it

i know ive seen several posts and pictures on what to do and how to gut the exhaust can to make it sound (Better).Ive tryed for over an hour this am to find it on the search link but can not find anything. Its not that important just something i thought of doing since I CANT RIDE !! without sending $$$ thanx THINK SNOW

You can gut the can while the exhuast is still on the sled. Use plasma to open the top then use a torch to clean the inside then tig back together. You don't need to re-jet and it does sound much better than before you start. I think the Bender is more tinny sounding but both Bender and gutted sound good.

I purchased a gutted exhaust from someone else. He thought it was too loud, but i think its just right. It really isn't loud, it just has that nice throaty gurgle you expect from a high performance engine. It sounds like a street bike with a mild aftermarket exhaust. Not loud, just a great tone. I have received many compliments on it in the short time I've had it on. I can't say how much it was gutted, because I wasn't the one who did it.

LOUD

:bling DO IT. ITS WELL WORTH THE TIME AND THE CHEAPER WAY TO GO. AND THE SOUND IS GREAT. I HAVE DONE TWO OF THEM TWO WAYS AND THE BEST IS TO TAKE OUT THE PIPES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MUFFLER INSIDE. JUST USE STAINLESS STEEL TO WELD IT BACK TOGETHER.

Here may be a dumb question but what is inside? Is there packing or just steel baffles.. Can I just cut out with a torch and clean up with grinder?? :yam:

Does anyone have pics of the inside. Im wondering is there actualy directed pipes that come from the input to the out put or does it just go in the middle and the exhauts just bounce all over the walls stock. if so that will create alot of turbalance
