im sorry guys but its time for me to go with something different i wanted a yamaha sled because i heard good things about the rx1 and my friend has a mountain max and loves it. the power, ride and handling to me are exceptional. but the issue with the hand warmers is more than im willing to deal with i paid extra over other sleds figuring i would get the best, well i almost got it. if the hand warmers worked it would be. the new bar upgrade is on order, has been for several months now. i called my dealer tonight and he told me they dont have a release date yet, well its march and this is my second season of cold hands. there is a fix being thrown around on the site its probably ok but i paid ten grand for this sled plus an extended waranty. i shouldnt have to hack on my new sled. its 15 below here in fairbanks would be a nice day to ride if you had some hand warmers to go with my extra tall windshield. lots of doos and cats running around though. im just keepin my miles low for trade in i guess.

wow i'm sorry to hear that ive had mine updated for awhile now i switched yami for reasons like not having to rebuild motors and awesome hp etc. .I have riden in negative 25 not boondocking either fast trails with the old 06 bars i cant believe your switching for handle bars you should maybe switch dealers well fairwell what are you switching too? :yam:

I can't believe your still waiting for updated bars!! I have the updated bars and they work awesome. I can't put them on high or they get way to hot. I usually run them on half or less. I was up in Northern Ontario for eight days and 1700 miles and my hands were always warm.

not having to worry about the motor was my main reason for going with a yamaha i guess im just pissed because now im going to be into my third season before i have the sled i bought and paid for, i should be used to it alaska always gets it last, just like k-mart we got them just before they went bankrupt. the sled isnt up for sale yet but if im catching salmon before i get my new bars it will be. i spend all day outside freezing and i dont really need to test the extremes its going to be 17 below on average tomorow and ill be in it all day, not super cold but not picknic weather either. im really hoping my dealer and yamaha come through with the bars im not sold on the machine until i ride at -20 and my hands are warm like on my friends mountain max. the only switch i could see would be a doo, dad said "cant go wrong with a doo" but it would be just like my childhood, doo piss yellow everywhere! the apex is still the best built machine hands down but it needs some refinement if they are going to sell to me again.

the 07's are only marginally better in severe cold. Why Yamaha can't fix them is a question? My venture will burn your hands?

I put the new upgraded bars on my Gt and they're better than the old bars but I find it depends on the gloves I wear. The thicker the glove the less I feel the heat from the bars. I've had cold hands with gloves on and stopped at a trail shack to take my gloves off and warm them on the bars and they were hot. I've got the hand guards which now helps and I carry 2 sets of gloves when riding, thin and thick depends what is required. I think the main reason is these machines have so much torque we have to hang on too tight. :jump:

I'm sure the parts supply issue thing wears on you for sure, but there are too many other positive things about Yamaha to overlook, just as side here already.
We all make little modifications to our sleds, and I don't think too many people feel like they have to "hack" on their sleds to make them better, we do it because we love them.
You stated here that you have seen the thread on the handle bar fix. Even if you can't get the new wiring harness, there are instructions for modifiying/ building one to work. If that is the only thing you have to complain about with your sled, I personally think you're on a great machine!

buy a pair of handlebar muffs, they look a little funky but your hands will be warm until you get the bars updated. Or you could buy another brand but remember that when the engines fail the handwarmers dont work but the walk out will keep you warm.

i would ride with no hand warmers at all before i would ride the competition's 2 strokes.c'mon, trading a machine for handwarmers is a bit exagerated IMO.just wear mitts instead of gloves,i ride with mitts when its too cold and hardly use the handwarmers

Good Luck but you might be replacing a whole lot more on another brand. There has been a fix on here for quite some time. Get er done!!!

all you need is a $20 pair of handlebar gauntlets to get you buy till then... I cant see getting rid of the sled over $20..
