Hi all,
I just bought my 05 RX-1 ER. Previously had a 1997 700 VMax SX. The hand and thumb warmers rocked on the 1997. I couldn't hold onto them in high. It hasn't been that cold yet and already my hands are freezing on my RX-1. From what I have ready, they should be as good if not better.
Going on a trip to Quebec this weekend and would really like to figure this out before I go.
What do you suggest?
Thanks,
Chris

I have a new 05 and have to turn them way down otherwise they are too hot. Trace them back from the handlebars and make sure they are plugged in tight.

i turned mine on high earlier today and i left it there. After 10 minutes my hands were just about on fire. I had to turn them down to 2 bars and throw snow on them to cool them down. something is wrong with yours.

I need to look at my connections. Both my RX and Viper warmers are often not working the best. You never know until you're down the trail.

There must be something wrong because my Warrior will all but burn my hand off if on high. I would definately have your dealer check it out

When I put a voltmeter across the yellow/Red wire and black wire, I get a reading of only 0-2 volts depending on how high I have the setting on the warmers set to. I wonder if this should be going as high as 12 volts.

Had a problem with my 02 Viper...ended up finally putting the LED's in my taillight as they dont have much draw. I dont know about the RX but on the Viper, even a slight touch of the brake activated the light and in return all the juice goes to the light and sucks it away from the warmers. The LED's have much less electrical draw and in therory should eliminate the issue. As it turns out, this resolved my issue although I still have trouble beleiving it myself.
Also, check the ground. Could be that simple.

Kren, I understand what you are saying, but sometimes you burn your gloves right off and other times they are just warm. I wouldn't think the tail light would make that much of a difference. I'll have to get the voltmeter out and yes, I'll check the grounds.

You know what, Kren is right. I flew off my handle bars a couple years ago, rotated the handle bars all the way forward and ripped out my windshield. Later on that day my buddy noticed my brake lights were on all the time and I wasn't getting any heat to the warmers. After fixing the brakelight switch the warmers came back to normal.

My warmers are great but they do take awhile to come up to temperature. Stopped on the lake to help a guy that was stuck. Got my hands wet and cold . Took about 6 to 8 miles on the trail before the warmers got hot and I had to turn them down. They do get way to hot to leave on high but like I said they take a while to warm up.

On a -10 degree C day, I will ride with them on high all day. Break lights are working fine. Did anybody check the voltage across the Red/Yellow and black wire?

Tahoe, My wife and I alternate leading and sometimes trade sleds. The brake light only works when stopping. Thanks for the help.

Impala (smarta$$) just kidding now hehe. When I bent the handle bar forward, the switch/wire underneath the brake handle rotated thus keeping my brake lights on all the time, and it took power away from my hand warmers.
