Hand guards? Are they worth the trouble on RX-1 mountains?

Thanks again. Thanks to you, my list for this season is starting to come together nicely.

14.5 mm rollers
Sportech handguards
TJ hand guard mounts
New track?????
single pipe????

Surely, I must be missing a bunch of stuff?

Frosty

How about a set of these? (See Pictures). If the wether co-operates I'll have a test report in the the next month. ;)!

I don't think they are. It says X-MT by PPD. I saw those new Simmons "Generation II" skis. 10" wide! Wow!

Aaron

Aarons right; these are PPD X-MT skis which are 8" wide and 2 lbs lighter than the 1st Generation simmons. PPD Ltd is the Canadian Ski manufacturer building the skis used by Doo.

I have used the Yamaha hand guards from a Nytro, you can get them in multiple colors and they cover really well. You can mount them easily, the only mod that needs to be done is to trim a tab of plastic where the wires come out of the plastic grip and thumb heater assembly, other wise they bolt right on and the brackets are aluminum and look pretty good, $60 dollars for a set isnt bad at all.

Just put my Powermadds on. Not sure about them? Seem kinda cheap when rolling sled and tipping over and stuff. We'll see. One huge thing I didn't think of was my cover. Don't think it will fit now. That sucks!

My covers fit on both sleds with both having hand guards and risers. The Powermadds are actually more forgiving than my Sportechs for roll overs but both have held out fairly well.

So how did the clearance come out on the brake side on your Yamaha? On my wife's 900 RMK there is not enough room for my size 11 hands/fingers to quickly reach the lever when needed. That was my major reason for buying a second set of Sportechs when I put the Fly bars on.

No problem at all. I even tried it with my gloves on. Their is 2 1/2" inches of room between the lever and the guard. They are starting to grow on me. First time they bend or break though they are getting XB-3'd(thrown in the trash)!

I doubt they'll bend or break. The plastic Powemadd uses feels almost like it has a rubber/plastic blend. They flex really well when needed.

The thing to watch on the Powermadds is the bolts holding the clamp to the bracket. The wife's RMK lost one before Inoticed it was loose. That could be due to the HD Motorcycle typre vibration that the Polaris BB motor makes though. Your bolts might stay tight since they're on a smooth running Yammi :yam: .

XB3 Hey, I recognize that term. Probably you, Hammer and are are the only ones who know what it means?

I still plan to order some Sportechs with the TJ mounts. My sled list is starting to grow.

Frosty

With no windshield, these are a must, but they hold up good, easy to install. D

Sportech work well for me. The guard is held to the mounting bracket with plastic pop rivets, so when i have rolled it just sheared the rivets and the guard comes off undamaged.
