I just got an 08 phazer gt new and the thumb warmer gets warm but the hand warmers don't. Does anyone else have this problem? Any help would be mostly appreciated. Thanks.

I was at the dealer a little while ago (for something different) and I was talking with one of the mechanics. He told me a little trick if the hand warmers don't seem to be getting hot enough. There is a hole on the end of the handgrips and he said to fill the hollow handlebars with insulation through that hole (like with Great Stuff or some expanding foam like that). This is supposed to reduce the amount of heat that gets radiated into the inside of your handlebars, which is just a waste.
I haven't tried it yet, but I thought I'd throw that out there in case it helps someone. He also mentioned that the handle bars don't really start warming up until you are doing around 30mph.

I have the same problem on a new 08 GT. I have not braught it in yet. I am trying to get by until the end of the year.
I phoned my dealer and he told me at idle there just isn't enough power to get the grips warm and you have to be at higher rpm. There is no fix from Yamaha yet. He also told me to fill the inside of the bars with spray foam. I guess that's all I can do for now.

I had the same problem with my 07. Dealer said there is no fix. I installed rockmeister's warm hand controller. Look under general discussion and look for the warm hand thread
