handle bar/ ski alignment after PMT install

if ur having problems getting to the front of the sled the plastic nose piece comes off with a few screws/push clips I believe. makes life must easier. if ur system is tight then something is binding. shouldnt need any lube in theory. u got a bur or something digging into the bushings? i got the oft one but it cant be much different. i know if the bottom bolts were not bent all the way the blocks were no in line and would cause it to get tight when u tightened the nuts all the way down. call PMT otherwise and ask.
Well I'm really having no luck. I can get access to the bottom jamb nut, but it won't break free of the relay rod. Everything is turning together, and it's really hard to turn. I'm about to give up
Anyone in the northern illinois (rockford) area that would be willing to help?

Both nuts will turn the same way to loosen them. One is left handed, one right handed and since they are facing opposite directions the nuts need to be turned the same way. Make sense? There should be a flat spot on the rod itself to put a wrench to keep it from turning when you turn the nut and yes it will spin hard if your turning the nut and rod together. It is a jam nut. Hope this makes sense and helps.:-o Your PMT is different then the OFT, you do not bend the studs with the PMT.

If you look at the threads going in to the jam nut's you can tell which way the nut will go tight or loose.

If u can get both of your hands in there and have a stubby 14mm yer most of the way there

Make sure the bars are all the waybturned left when sittin on the sled
U dont need to hold the relay rod, turn it so that its slack is taken up against itself in the direction u want to turn the jam nut which is up to the left
Put both hands on the stubby wrench and you shiuld be able to break the jam nut free this way

Oh and btw....remove the front nose astic and front bumper....will give ubthe room to getbyer hands in there and work....barely....if yer not a gorgon

Good luck

Remove front nose plastic and front bumper to give ya room to work
Make sure the skis are turned all the way left
Get both of your hands in there with a stubby 14mm wrench
Spin the relay rod counterclockwise so it takes up the slack in the ball joint
Then put the stubby wrench on the jam nut so you have enough room to get an upward or counterclockwise turn on it
The rod wont move as its jammed against the ball joint

Show that jamnut whos boss!!

terez....the grease is probably the culprit for the tight steering, try removing it then reassemble and just use a penetrating type oil instead.....my .02

It was for mine. Steering is smooth now. Thank you everybody for guiding me thru the install. So far I've tackled changing the oil and chaincase oil, new spark plugs, new battery (YTX20HL-BS), and the relocator. The sled has 6500 miles with a new 1.5" intense track, rebuilt fox float evol x shocks, tuner skis, newer bushings. Anything you guys can think of to get me ready for the year? I am coming off an 05 rev 600 HOand hope I like this sled more. I've also had an 04 rx1 which I actually liked.
Thanks again
