has anyone attempted to just plug the pigtail in and see if the heaters work better? or would this cause damage?

What the pigtail does is change the warmers from a 2 wire system to a 1 wire system..Installed mine today abd they work fine..Even read the instructions..LOL

Not going to chance putting thr old 06 bars on my 05 Vector, the Vector grips work mint and don't want to screw them up. so selling the 06 bars for $30 plus shipping.

The Vector grips are much warmer than the 06 bars to be sure! Get yourself on a waiting list at your dealer. Since it is not a warranty situation your dealer should allow you to buy the kit even though you do not have an 06. Dealers that are selling the kit for higher prices, requiring that they install, or keeping your old bars are not doing you any favors. That is their own policy not Yamaha's.

No, the dealer shouldn't allow you to buy the upgraded kit for the $30 price if they aren't for a 2006 model sled. Period.
Yamaha is making this update available for owners of '06 sleds that have poorly heating grips.
I believe Yamaha Canada did the right thing and had paperwork for the customer to fill out, take to the dealer and receive the updated bars.
If you don't own an '06, then you should pay the full price of the bar kit, which is said to be about $130!!

Ok so what happens if I wire the 06 bars I have the same way my 03 bars were?

The 06 bars don't put out enough heat..I think because of the aluminum end hook..If there was an easy cheap fix for this I don't think Yamaha would be doing the deal on the bars..Good Luck making them work..

For 130 bucks I'd put the 07 bars on my 05 if it would make them hotter. Anyone have a clue if it would work? Would the pigtail harness improve 05 heaters? Is this fix backdateable? Please before you get on me about 05 grips where fine, I have to say I find them fair till -20C and poor at -30C.
My previous sleds (non Yami) grips got so hot you could not hold them barehanded. My Yami grips get almost hot.
