Hey,
any of you ever had a nytro wobble from side to side while riding in the street (side of it .) ??
it seems on a hard surface the sled shifts it 's own wight sand mine while riding standing up... no i wasn't drunk..
someone mentionned to me and tighten up the rear ??

It will be easier to get some answers with a few more details, like model and year. How it's set up now. And more of a description of "wobble". Is it darting side to side, or is the rear end sliding out side to side or is the entire machine rolling from side to side. If you are clear you will get quick advice on this site.

Oh sorry,
09 XTX and yes it's more of a darting side to side..sometimes when icy it does slide out the rear a little.. but in a trail its pretty stable..
all i can say for sure is that the previous owner had some suspension work done on it as it has "star suspension" stickers on the shocks.. i picked it up a few weeks ago and ajusted the front shocks not too bad.. the previous oner was 54 and rode it pretty slow... he wanted it more confortable so got the suspension upgraded. sadly i had little details as he wasn't much of a wrench monkey.. the sled has 1600 miles on it.

What carbides are you running? With the Star suspension you should be running the front shocks with the least amount of spring possable (you want the front end to sit low). I run my front springs as loose as possible and I moved my sway bar to the other hole. If you are running snowtrackers they might be just finding groves in the sidewalk...they tend to have a mind of their own on hard groved surfices. x2 on the ball joints/bushings!

I've just come to accept the darting at slow speeds. At 30 mph+ it goes away but there's just too much weight on the front end at lower speeds. Even on a freshly groomed trail mine darted going slow. The alignment is bang on as well. Better skis should improve it however.

First I would say figure out if you have the full star suspension kit or if he just had the shocks revalved. Go to their web site and compare your suspension to the pics to see. If you have it then that is a good thing! Go to the bottom of the page and read and follow the settings they recommend.
After that Raise the front end and check all of the ball joints, tie rods, A arms and everything you can lay your hands on to wiggle. Look for any loose or worn out parts. And check the condition of your carbides and ski mounts.
Then, measure your toe out to make sure you are within specs.
After you verify all of that, you will likely come to the conclusion (like posted above) that it is the stock skis on that machine. Read the 1000 posts on the subject and you will see that they have issues in that department. Everyone will tell you to change them and I will agree. Before you ask I will let you know that there is no agreement amongst the members here on which one is the best. I am still riding the tuners that came on my sled, and I have zero complaints about them ON trail (no darting at all). But, off trail I would love to have more floatation. I have read every document on every powder ski and I have changed my mind a thousand times on which one to buy.

Take a look at the steering pivot where it is bolted to the subframe. The nut came loose on mine and ovaled out the bolt hole. I had a huge amount of steering slop because of this. I removed the subframe and built up the worn hole.
mach9, that decal is the absolute truth when riding behind a nytro. where did you get that warning decal? would like to get one myself.

I wonder if your skis are aligned with the track and toed out properly? Wouldn't think the pivot would be worn if it was a geezer cruiser with that amount of miles.

While you are at it take a look at the subframe, maybe it's bent.

Well i jacked up the front and all the upper suspension bushing are shot.. they are the plastic OEM crap.. bought the new revised BRASS bushing... one side is so loose it has 3/4 of an inch play..
as for the star suspension , it seems like it's only a revalve/rebult thing.. no modified parts from the side seem to be like on the sled..
'ill will be doing this in a few hours.. and post pics on how the spring are ajusted on the sled. maybe someone can tell me if it's too high or low..

I had this problem with my xtx all it was was the track was out of align and she use to pull side to side on me on a hard surface.
