handwarmer switch need cleaning?

When i push the handwarmer switch to change intensity sometimesa it adds a bar and other times it does not work without pressing it several times. Is there any way to clean the connection. so it works every time i press it?

Some of it comes apart, but I would look at the boot under the bars.
