Alright so I've got an 07 attak gt with 5000 miles on it that's got me a little stumped. Sometimes I'll turn the key, wait for it to cycle and it will fire right up. Other times it'll crank and not even fire unless given a little gas.

I replaced the plugs and they were dark. First change on them but they seemed awfully black for a 4 stroke. Still same issue.

I idled it up a little and that doesn't appear to have solved the problem either.

The part that really gets me is that I'll start it, let it warm up, ride it a mile and shut it off. When you go to restart it cranks but no fire. Let it sit for an hour go out hit the key and it fires right up.

The battery is original but shows good charge but I'm wondering if that could really be the cause of this or something else?

Read about the relay being a problem on these but it always clicks and cycles like normal.

Any thought? I appreciate any and all help.

I had the same problem.
It was the original relay. If i started it and only drove a short distance, the heat of the engine caused condensation in the relay, which then froze when it shut off.
Sometimes the relay would even click , but no fuel pump

Updated relay and all was good.

When my stator pick up failed my sled acted very similar to what you are describing.
Seemed like it had a mind of its own about when it wanted to start, but once started it would run fine.
I also noticed that sometimes it seemed like it would only start when i gave it some throttle.
If you have a manual and a multimeter, the manual explains how to test the stator, it only takes 15 mins to test it.
the connecor is easily accessable up in the nose of the sled.
Good luck

Do either of you have a link or part number to the relay? I've read they're only around $20 and would gladly carry a spare.

The part about it being the stator I'll test. Once it starts as long as I don't ride it a minute and kill it the thing starts all day. It's just that 5 minute run down to the next cabin that gets it.

The next time it happens jump it with a car battery, im thinking its the old battery is going. If it starts with the car jumping it you know its bad. You will get black plugs if the motor is not getting worked.

The problem with that is I'm usually miles out in the middle of nowhere. Would letting the snow machine sit for an hour through really cause the battery to then work better with a cold motor?

Ya that sounds different than my stator issue but its worth testing anyway.

sounds to me like its the stator they do allot of strange things proir to all out failure.
