It started happening towards the end of last season and I never thought of doing anything about it during summer at all. So this year its doing the same thing. Itll fire, idle for a split second then die. Then ill try starting it again and repeat this process maybe 7 times. I cycle the key a couple times to pump more fuel into it.. And when it does finally fire up and idle it wont idle at normal idle rpms. Maybe 800rpm then seconds later it'll adjust to the normal rpms. It had new plugs about 200km ago. The motor has 9200km with all updated fuses and relays. Any help is appreciated

I would drop some new plugs in it.

What kind of plugs did you put in? I recently put CR10ek's in but fouled them from starting it when working on it throughout the summer. I always let it idle till the light on the dash went off.

When they were going bad it would idle but you could tell that something wasn't right with them because it would be 'poping' when idling. Last it would start but when turning over watching the RPM's would go to 800 and want to start but wouldn't. Then the RPM's would go back to 2-300 and would just turn over.

I put CR9E's back in it and barely hit the key and started and idled without a problem.

Don't want to hijack this thread but has anyone tried CR9IEX plugs. I used to run them in my 2 smokes and they made a huge difference.

After it warm up it idles fine. No popping or sputtering, still snappy and peppy. Just the initial starting in the morning it has issues

try holding the key for split second after it fires up then let it go. my 09 xtx was like this first thing in the morn. did this for 5000 miles never hurt anything .

My sled has done this on two separate occasions, exhaust donuts and dirty air filter. Air filter is often overlooked. A combo of oil residue from overflow and fluff from cattails did it for me. Cleaned the filter and air box and problem solved

Letting the pump prime definitely makes a difference too

My r1 often needs me to hold the key on (starter button actually) after it starts for another 5+ seconds or so. The nytros been ok, the odd time it may need just a second or two.

Have you ever got your throttle bodies synced , if not I would get that done , they maybe out of sync .
