I just changed my head lights to LED. My snowmobile is starting better ever since. This morning it was really cold and normally my sled doesn't start well. This morning it started right up like nothing and I found all weekend it started without any problems what so ever. That makes me wonder if all the starting issues are voltage related.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but the LED's will still take 12V but the current draw should be less than the regular light setup. However the smaller the current draw the more likely the battery will be able to keep a 12 volt + voltage available for the ECU etc.

Cheers,

This is exactly what I am thinking. Seems very possible that the charging system can not keep up with the current draw.

It is something to look into. All I'm saying is I have had issues starting my sled in the cold and when I stopped sometimes. Since I installed the LED lights. I haven't had one start issue and fries right up quicker than before. Coincidence maybe. I got 400 miles on this weekend and not one start issue. First time this year.

My issue went away for almost 600 miles and now is showing its ugly face again. I really don't think it's a voltage issue since it has done it to me with 12.7 volts in the battery. And I checked that with a multimeter not just trusting the Guage.

Sledlights. They are a lot brighter but there is not much difference between low and high been for brightness or larger light pattern. I am going to readjust the headlight alignment and see if that helps. I had them adjusted low so I could use my high beams all the time without them shinning in the trees.

I would be interested to see what voltage your multimeter is reading while cranking over the motor.

Never mind it is back to the same way as before. It must of been just a good weekend for starting the sled. lol
