Hard to start when hot

that why they got different strokes for different fokes...
im realy picky when it comes to my sleds and that is one i would not do .
looks like it should be part of a lumber mill..... not a sled......
doing it that way looks like you are too cheep to spend 13$ so you only spent 5$ .. it shows ......... sorry but thats my 2 cents ..
there is lots of thing i do to my sleds that you guys dont like so be it...

Everyone seems to know about this problem, but I have never heard of it. Why does slowing the coolent help in warm or hot starts? I read in the manual that the coolent isn't even flowing when it is warm. I think it was over 86 degrees. Thanks for the help. Honk

To my knowledge the coolant does not stop. Are you sure you aren't thinking of the elctronic heaters?

Yeah....Like that Butt Ugly Chrome Windshield!!! :p By the way guys....there is a simple fix for this. Turn up your idle to 18-1900 RPM and you no longer have to tip the throttle. Nice NEAT fix!!

Thanks for the suggestions. Does the warm coolant vaporize the fuel after warm shut off? Is that why the coolant shut off works ? P.S. I dont think increasing idle is the best way to correct the problem ...its only hiding it.

Sorry but I don't consider this to be a problem (just kind of annoying)...a problem to me is when it won't start at all...

I do know for a fact that the Ski-Doo shutoff valves dramatically DECREASE their fuel economy when turned on. I would be very interested in finding out what the results of shutting off the valves would be on our machines.

PS. How do you know when you can turn them off and when you can turn them on? What temperature dictates this?

Just for the record the thinking on my behalf behind using a "cheap mickey mouse looking" brass valve is this.

1st) I have rold sleds in the past while climbing in the steep and deep
2nd) I have had stuff like spark plug caps snap off in these rolls leaving me to get towed back to town.
3rd) It is my opinion that my "cheap $6 mickey mouse looking" brass valve will take more abuse than your beautifull looking Ski-Doo valve. JMO and no hard feelings EH

Not to get off topic here but since you feel the need to criticize my "lumber mill" valve. Why did you suggest that a guy buy a power madd bicycle brake lever for a left throttle. Is it because it is cheaper than my Lefty's brand Dual Throttle Control (DTC) that looks factory and and COST $225 US + shipping and handeling. Like you said different strokes for different folks. If you feel the need to criticize someone else on here I suggest maybe you take a look in the mirror before posting something and confront your "little man syndrome" but thats just my opinion and I'm getting off the soap box now.

i got no lefty , i got a lefty on my monster but its a powermadd leftty
i guess you should go look at powermadd's lefty there chum its 250$ and its not a bike part . i think you need to do more home work . dont get all pissy just cause i said your valve looks dink doo .... you should not have posted pics then if you were not ready for some guys to say it was ugly .
no hard feelings . i try it say it in the nicest way ;)

chow....

viper srx sx all have those and the fuel millage never changed ..
when i had my machz and my mxz700 i never seen a prob with fuel like you talk about ... maby you turn the wrong valve off . maby it was the fuel valve ;)

A friend of mine has a 700 MXZ 2002. He had same warm start problem ie, needed some throttle to start. He later discovered that his carb heater valves were on constantly. When he only used them on very cold days or in powder , he had no problems starting.

Anybody know what the correct idle speed is? I like RXWonder's approach mine idles around 800 and does require a little throttle when hot and i dont think a few hundred rpm at the low end will make much difference! Spray you'll have to explain the shutoff bit to me I don't understand why that would help but you know me :? BTW if you saw my fuel shutoffs mounted on a piece of plywood  you would'nt think BlgsRX-1mtn did such a bad job looks damn good to me :)

By the way, thanks to Spray and Convert for the compliments on my install. I happen to like it :D and have learned from a wise older man (my dad) to take criticism directed at me with a grain of salt. I read what SrXeXtReEm said at 5:00 am and it was like water of a ducks back. I just had to reply when he spouted off back at you (Spray) when you said something. Like I said in my first thread it is a durability choice not a price thing for me.
