Any way to reduce the harsh clutch engagement? Want to get rid that initial jerk that comes if you don't open the throttle ever so gently. Different clutch spring maybe? Thoughts? Thansk.

Try a different spring in the primary, so it revs a bit before engaging.
I just ordered a Comfort Clutch kit from Schmidt brothers. This is supposed to cure this. Hope to have it by the weekend...

I would think lower your engagement I ride mountains but I like the lowest engagement I can get. The Nytro has so much bottom end power that it has no problem pulling a low engagement.
My thoughts would be that I think you have a Y-S-Y spring that is 35-118 you could try like a G-P-G that is a 30-121 and that would lower it down for ya without changing your shift much.

I guarantee that you will like the Schmidt Bros. kit if you are looking for a smooth engagement on your clutch. You gradually press the throttle and the sled moves very smoothly.vector06 said:I just ordered a Comfort Clutch kit from Schmidt brothers. This is supposed to cure this. Most decent clutch kits cure this problem.
If I had of known back in 09 when my XTX was new.
I would of ditched the stock clutch weights before my first mile.
The stock clutch set up spins and gooves the primary sheaves down low because there isn't enough squeeze on the belt early enough.

Just installed the Comfort Kit. Sled is way way better now. No more snapped neck for me..

Had my clutching done by Boss performance. Very smooth engagement now. Do a search to find the threads.

What do you have for engagement? I also like a low engagement, I just wasn't sure how low I could go with this torque monster. i want to be able to crawl through the trees without blowing the track loose until I want to.
Last weekend I got the belt smoking pretty bad trying to keep from making a hole and getting stuck. I am running 22/38 gears 68l straight chain. I know I should gear down to stock too.
My Attak was excellent that way, you could just crawl along and maneuver through the trees, hardly ever spun the track. With the gear reduction that clutch had a nice low engagement.

I installed a Schmidt Bros clutch kit and it works excellent, sled runs and performs great. I love the low engagment especially in reverse, it makes it very easy to back up without liting up the track.

With the Schnidt Bros kit does it still have the low end rip your arms off pull that makes for nice wheelies?

Yamakazie - I would recommend their stage 2 kit which has the smooth low end engagement as well as improved pull throughout the entire power band. These clutch kits work much better than the stock set up.yamakazie said:With the Schnidt Bros kit does it still have the low end rip your arms off pull that makes for nice wheelies?

I looked at that kit, but there's no way I'm going to spend $250 or a clutch spring, 3 rollers, and a handful of screws. Just couldn't do it.craigwsrx said:I installed a Schmidt Bros clutch kit and it works excellent, sled runs and performs great. Trust me by the time you get all the parts and then some you got a box full of part way more $$$$ and end up with same out come so getting the kit isn't that bad , bolt on and go play
