I'm on my third 1200. Newest one is an R-motion X package Renegade. Finest machine I have ever owned or ridden. I've owned a lot of four-strokes machines including over two-dozen Yamaha's and even a 2011 Apex XTX with power steering, a couple turbo Cats including a turbo ProCross. Nothing IMO out there as fun and good as the 1200 Doo. Lots/most have gone back to the 1200 after experiencing the Cat ProCross too. In fact most that have gone and tried something else are back on a 1200 in just a short time, that's gotta tell ya something.

The 1200 runs as smooth as a four cylinder Apex and will outrun the Apex if you add Header, PB80 clutch and RB3 to them. They'll beat up on the 800's too with these mods if you want or need to go that fast. Want to go faster, just add a turbo. Go to the XR forum on DooTalk and you can learn all about them. Lots and lots of Yamaha guys over there can share their experience between the brands.
 
Can't say anything bad about GSX handles like a doo. 1200 only going to get 15 mpg seemed stuck didn't make difference if on or off it 15mpg. Apex XTX blows GSX away in everyway so comparo would be more to Vector LTX. Rode 14 Vector LTX wirh eps & was better ride than GSX but not fair no eps on GSX.IMO
 
There's one in our group, not a bad sled but doesn't compare to a genesis motor, sorry but if anyone thinks it's the same is out to lunch, IMO...

Thats funny , you are comparing a whole sled to a engine , typical yamaha guy , you can't beat the 1200 doo it's a great sled !
 
The 1200 has a proven motor and r motion, but damn they need a cosmetic change IMO. I looked at one before I bought my viper but ergos on the 1200 just were not to my liking. Update it to look like a xp or xs and maybe lol
 
The ergos are the same on the XR, XP and XS, plastic is different. And after 18,000km on a 1200, I can tell you there is no hesitation haha, don't know what the Lester's are talking about?
 
09 nytro I guess you forgot to read page 1, I'm not the only guy to say there is no comparison,
I also said it's not a bad sled,
Did u watch the video, the one in our group reacts the same way, pump the throttle and nothing happens must be new technology,

If I were a doo 1200 I would be pissed being compared to a finely tuned genesis,

Did a 430 km ride today and at 3 diff stops got compliments from doo riders, That's Funny... One guy couldn't believe how close I stayed with him till we both pulled in to fuel up and I was totally honest with him when he ask how I liked the apex, told him it takes time & money to get it here,

I have lots of seat time on my buddy's doo 800 as we switch all the time, we have no problem keeping up with each other no matter who's in front, it's a nice sled but not for me, I have pride in my toys and motor and quality is #1, IMO

At the end of the day everyone to its own,

I mean the 1200 is ugly compared to the xp and xs, they are much nicer looking. The ergos on my viper for me were better than the 1200.

I don't get that, why are they boring to ride?
To me its the 4-cyl,high-revving ,sound -bike -feel-power-and proven engine.the only thing i like about the 1200 is its a higher cc lol.thats all i got ..i love my Apex ! it has been re-worked to my likes.

The 1200 have a slower throttle imput compared to Apex .i have never ridden one before, but ran one couple times with an exhaust and he thought he would put my flame out,but i have a Touch to his Match.you can hear it cause the exhaust is right there and has a slower "yank" seems like..pulled 2 sleds rightnow when i hit the volume !

He had 3000+- miles ,i had 8000+miles .5000mi more ,+30+- hp ,150lbs heavier and 6yrs older.love my Apex ;)!
 
I have two buddies in our group with them. Very fast to 80mph. Motor seems dependable for the most part. One guy has an 09 well abused with 5,500 miles. He has has a broken rear shock, a broken mounting bracket off the header, a broken throttle cable, and now his stater went bad. The other guy has a 2012 with 3,000+ miles on it. No issues, runs like a freight train till 80mph, rides on rails, and can pull a wheelie at 40mph. Not up to only, but while rolling at 40mph. Sled is easy to ride, almost lazy. Smooth, and warm. Yes a boring look, but handles the bumps, and corners well. Overall I think it's a good sled, but you do need a lot of performance stuff to get it up to par with the apex. Once you do though it is fun.
 
Before I bought my Attak I did look at used 1200's. Most of the used Renegade models I looked at were in the $6900-7900 range that were a few years old. But when I figure in the fact that I need to add a different clutch, a different exhaust and possibly a PCIII to make it run with the Apex machines suddenly this becomes a much more expensive machine. Also I have read plenty of the Dootalk forums posts about these and some are saying they still won't run with their buddies Apex. Some say yes and some say no. I don't doubt that Knapp's is a runner, in fact I am certain it is, but that doesn't mean mine will be.

I picked up my Attak GT for much less than this and I am plenty happy with it. Plus the guy added 2" of foam to the seat and a bar riser and it fits me perfect. It came with three belts,extra windshields and Yamaheaters too and looks like brand new. It ran like a champ in the UP last week.
