Hi Tahoe,
Speaking of drilling holes, you might want to look at the rear coolant hose to make sure they didn't damage them when putting the rear-most bolts in (tunnel reinforcing ones). I used some sheet metal between the hose and drill bit as a shield when I did mine.

What IS your problem? Are you having difficulty translating... if so I'd be happy too oblige....
No, "I" means "I" when I say "I". In fact all my service and repairs are done by "Me, Myself and I".
Now unless you have something USEFUL / HELPFUL / NOT LACKING A POINT to say, bugger off.

Tahoe,
No sweat. I've gotten so much great info off the folks on this site it's nice to be able to return some now and then. 8)
The best part about the site is that most people are helpful... very few go around causing a pointless stir. (Right marc?   )

If you're dealer is charging you for the float bowls, he's ripping you off and probably pocketing the warranty money. I would call him on it and also notify Yamaha as to what he is doing.

bowl update
The issue with the bowls isn't being handled properly by yamaha.I live and ride in ny ended up having to get the bowls from spray's dealer in idaho! My dealer here COULD NOT get this update done for me here in ny.I was told that there aren't any steep enough climbs in ny for the bowls to be the issue! The problem I had was the cutting out on the sharp bumps which was dangerous enough ,I can't imagine this machine shutting down on a mountain out west.Ultimately my dealer said I should contact yamaha cust service since their "rep" wasn't going to warranty it for me!If you have a shorty I don't think you have a chance seems everyone is only acknowledging the problem on the mountain version. After receiving and installing the new bowls it is obvious why this machine would cut out.The new design keeps a small amount of fuel around the main jet which prevents starvation/cavitation.An obvious design flaw that needs to be adressed by yamaha on all 03 models in my eyes!I believe all the 04 models have the new bowls what a kick in the @ss!I am not a person who expects yamaha to give people all the performance updates for 04(seat foam, alum upper arms, links etc.)but this bowl issue adresses a huge safety problem that is easily correctable;yamaha should have caught this problem during research and development before releasing this model to the public. This "new" floatbowl design is not new at all. This design was incorperated into the flatslides on my 00 t-cat which were also made by mikuni. Cavitation and stavation issues with bowls and mains was being adressed at least back that far if not further.Anyone having the cutting out /climbing problem on a 03 rx-1 should call yamaha customer service and give them hell if no help at the dealer level.Squeeky wheels get the grease!

Guys, there is a new solution for the flatties that can't get the bowls.
The new issue of SnowTrch magazine has a paragraph in the tech tips section that says a company has new jets that cure the problem. The have holes on the sides that help pick up gas. Jets are not very expensive so this is probably a good alternative for the guys that are having problems getting the noew bowls.
I'm sorry to say I don't have my magazine with me, but I will try to remember to look tonight and post the info.

Float bowls cured mine they were free to me also but you do have to complain to your dealer that you actually experienced the stalling problem they say. I was on Togwotee yesterday after the update along with the Holtzman red carb springs ran good in the steep and deep.Good luck and enjoy the ride!!

Yes it corrects the stalling and bogging when high marking. It is a must do. :!:
