So I bought a set of Hauck drag weights from Don Pizor a few years ago. I would like to try them in my ‘10 Apex LTX. Has anyone ever used these?
I’m trying to figure out a base point to start at for the grams per weight. Here’s what I have on hand for tuning.
Stock primary spring Y-S-Y
G-G-G primary spring
W-W-W primary spring
B-S-B primary spring
Y-W-Y primary spring
Hauck Green secondary spring
Yamaha Green dot secondary spring
Yamaha pink dot secondary spring
47 straight helix
50/42 helix unknown origin but works really well with 8Bu-10s in my ‘01 SRX
Stock 51/43 helix on Apex
I figured if I could get the grams close to what stock weights are, it would be a good start. Am I correct in thinking this? Clutching is all stock right now and she runs about 10,200-10,300 on top with 162 studs.
Any help is appreciated

Those weights have WAY more profile than the stockers, so you should need far less weight to start with. I’d start with as much mass as possible in the heal location and lighten as you move towards the tip. Rivets are a bit of a hassle to tune with, but better than nothing.

Love that engagement bump.

I’ve ran little bolts and nuts from the ones Hauck sells for adjustments and it’s worked well for me in the past. So I’ll break out the old scale and try to get a base line. Will I need a helix with less finish like a 37 or 39 to hold the belt as the weight are fairly aggressive. I ride mostly Central Wisconsin and the occasional rip up north. Don said they’d perform well in an RX-1 with good topend. That’s what I’m trying for.
