I know this may seem like a stange question, but currently I have a vector on order, but thinking about changing to the APEX. My question is have they used this fuel injection system on any other motor? I am just checking to see if I can see the results of this fuel injection system. Sorry I guess I am just old school and it makes me nervous is all.. Thanks for any information.

Nothing to worry about, it's a simple low pressure Mikuni system.

As mighty said, it's a simple low pressure Mikuni system. I believe it's referred to as a "returnless" or "closed loop" system. It basically has a target pressure and it looks at the current pressure from the pressure sensor, then modulates the fuel pump for more or less if the pressure sensed is not correct.

It be a good time to jump up to the apex . The 06 vector is the same as the 05 plus the mono. Still nice sleds. well just my thoughts. I think you will see some new stuff with the 07 vector. The fuel system should beat the carbs hands down.

No worries, just a slighly different tuned version of something that has been around a long time
I dont know if you caught Olav Aaens write up from another thread........................
The CV carb is popular because if you use a regular carb in a 4-stroke, you can actually open it too quickly and create a bad flat spot. A CV carb smoothes out this flat spot by preventing the sudden drop in air speed and the resulting lack of fuel flow any time you crack the throttle fast.
With the fuel injection system there's no lack of fuel flow when the throttle is thrown open because the fuel flow is now controlled independently by the computer program, not the airflow. Since air speed now is less important for calibration, the intake passages can be increased for better flow on the top end. As there are no float bowls to worry about, Yamaha engineers were able to lift the throttle bodies to a more vertical position for a straighter shot down at the valves. They also increased the throttle bodies to 39 mm for more airflow on top end.

They have had fuel injection on the R-1 race bikes for several years now probably longer. I think the R-1's were already fuelies when the 03 RX-1's came out.

This system has been used on the 4-stroke waverunners since 2003. I have an 03 fx cruiser and the fuel injection works flawlessly. The cruiser will start up only after 4-5 seconds of turning over after sitting all winter and spring.
