Hay Day Results?

Ahhhh, guys the Nytro did win in the 500 class with Jerry Fix behind the handle bars I believe. :4STroke:

common guys..

You guys know that what happens at haydays has NO bearing on how the sleds perform on the snow in real world conditions..

dont loose any sleep over it... its any mans game once they are moddified!

yamaha still :yam:

My brother was at Haydays and he said that in the stock 600 class the Apexs, in his words, "got their a*ses kicked". He said all the Apexs pull huge wheelies off the line (he said the skis were at least 2' off the ground) but they werent that fast.
Keep in mind, he is a die-hard Polaris guy, so you can take it for what its worth.
However, he did say that the Yamahas pretty much owned the mod classes. He said there was a Simmons CPR Yammie there that blew the doors off every sled it lined up aganst.
I share BBY's view. Its a brand-new sled and Im sure the tuners havent got the clutching just right yet, whereas the Doos really arent new and they have had a few seasons to fine-tune them. Give the Yamaha riders some time and Im sure they will be much better than they are now.
Lets not jump to conclusions here and say that the Apex isnt as fast as we all had hoped. 150 hp and 550 pounds is no joke, no matter how you look at it.

I've never put much stock in grass drag results. They are fun to watch and I'm sure they are even more fun to run but in my opinion the results tell very little about what's going to happen on the trail. I don't watch alot of racing at Hay Days but the one heat I did catch was a turbo RX1 open mod 1000. I believe all four sleds in the heat were turbo RX1's. The guy that won that race had a simons cpr turbo I believe. After watching that race the rest of the runs were like watching in slow motion. 110 MPH in 500 feet!!! That's flat out movin!!

I base my opinions on months of snow and thousands of miles, not 1 weekend and 500 feet. However, it is nice to see your brand racing and being competitive. From what I witnessed at Haydays, race on Sunday and sell on Monday will be great for us Yamaha dealers, even if we didn't take the win. The Yamaha booth was hopping, plus I sold 2 sleds from Haydays. Let it snow!!

Well, I’ll throw my 2c in this as well. I’m not really surprised on the results since the 4-strokes still carry extra weight which is all to important for 500'. Even with the extra power running in the 600 class, the 4-strokes are far more sensitive to traction then the 100+lbs lighter 2-strokes. I’m no pro racer, but I learned a long time ago that it’s a coin toss to get a good hole shot moving the extra weight. Doesn’t seem much to some, but it does with equal level of tuners like at haydays. I hope this doesn’t portrait the Apex to be a slow machine because it definitely out performs the 600s in normal snow conditions. Even stock thundercat 1000s, mach 1000s, mach triple triples and XCR 800s have a hard time against todays 600s in a short 500', but we all know the power and speed in these beasts on normal snow conditions makes the 600s look silly and boring.
Hats off to all the hayday racers! Especially those on team blue ;)!

Wish I can make it there one of these years.

Mighty dont get to excited , your right also. BBy is also correct. I agree with Allen also but he left out the most important thing.. I ran pro. 20 years and beat some of the best but there are a lot of things that enter into it like a good lane, cutting a good light, correct jetting and clutching for that heat. Could change each time. Driver red lite might still have fastest sled and not be able to compete. No one makes no. 1 with out some luck I dont care how good you are ,any driver and sled can be beaten on any given day with out some LUCK.. Just my experance for what its worth and Yes BBy is right the more years on a sled the quicker u can get it going.Look at all the 2-3 year old sleds winning and that speaks for it self. Dont knock Big Blue till it has a chance to prove it self. Way to soon , it hasnt had time to grow to do what its able to do. Just like a fine wine , give it time and ENJOY .Byoffcr PS with out the luck I mentioned I would not have won because those who lost were as good or better than we were, we had a little mure luck our side in that heat.

Ive got to add, in a 500ft race its tough to beat a TRA clutch. They shine in this application.
TT70, your right but whats funny they only use 2/3rds of the clutch face to accomplish this type of speed.

I would be curios to see a track dyno to compare clutching itself. I’m willing to bet that the weight factor played a bigger roll then the clutching. Doesn’t anybody else notice that the RX-1/Apex spins twice as much as the little 600s?

This is what I poster on HCS>

Who cares about 500 ft......when I am chasing down sleds on a lake...I am already doing 80mph.

If I race someone from a start.....it is like they are standing still because they are afraid to ride with weight transfer in the trails.

Anything less that 700 cc's have no seat of the pants feel!!

If I had to ride a 600 I would quit the sport!

My take is you can't trail ride a race trim stock sled on the trail. The snow is the great equalizer. THe RX-1 never did squat on the grass and I didn't expect the Apex to either. However my RX-1 kicked the crap out of almost every F7, doo 800/600 and any poo out there.

500 feet just isn't enought time to compete with these mcuh lighter sleds on the grass. If it was 660 they would have a better chance

LOOK ITS A F-7 SHOW OUT THERE NOW ON THE GRASS, IT HURTS TO SAY IT IF YOUR BRAND LOYAL LIKE ME AND THE REST OF YOU GUYS. BUT JUST LOOK AT THE RESULTS!! THE DEFFERENCE BETWEEN A RACED PREPED F-7 AND A MORTAL ONE IS SLED LENTGHS. LIKE JTSSRX SAYS, THINGS CHANGE THOUGH ON THE SNOW ESPECIALLY RUNNING A LONG DISTANCE!!! YOU WERE WHISHFUL THINKING IF YOU THOUGHT A APPEX WAS GONNA WIN AT HAYDAYS RUNNING AGINST THOSE CATS!! 3:16 (tony)

The Cats are beatable, like I said it's all who cheats the best without getting caught and that's why they are in the pro series. The F-Cats in the right tuners hands are very fast, but stock ones are no big deal.
