I am going to buy some new skiis for my 09 xtx this year. Feel like I have found just about all the info I can online, still not 100% sure of which ones to get. I do about 50/50 on and off trail and want more flotation.

Wondering if going to Hay Days will help me out. Thinking it will be individual vendors that carry one line.

As of now I am leaning towards the C & A XTX.

opinions are like ...well you know..
I personally am going with the simmons...they have never let me down...they track straight and make the sled more stable and enjoyable....with a slight amount of predictable understeer..
one footnote on the heavier on the skis fourstrokes..you do need to tweak your suspension a bit to prevent heavier low speed steering

ski's are like oil here - you should get about 30 replies - going to hay days will not help you learn about ski's.

I have Simmons on both my XTX's Great ski. Strong, look great and ride well.

with what carbide and carbide configuration...etc?

Like said before, opinions about skis are like Yamahas on this forum - everybody has got them and they are all different...
Riding conditions, riding style, personal preferences (regarding steering effort, for instance) and suspension setup will all affect the performance of the skis and the way you like them. Because of this, the favourite skis of one guy will not necessarily be your favourite skis. The obvious thing - unfortunately, from a budget point of view - would simply be to try as many skis as possible on your own sled in your own riding conditions - not until then you can really pick your favourite skis...
Based on comparisons performed by myself, on my own sled and in my riding conditions, I have found the SLP PP to be an awesome ski. But then again, I am not trying to tell you that you will like the same ski...

i have some simmons gen 1's on mine and i for the most part like them but like anything else there are compromise's i know that this post comes a little to late for haydays, but i have found that the race or speed shops have a lot of good advice, especially on suspension setups.

Yep, too late I spent my cash!

You are correct though, talked to a few different booths that were not selling skiis and actually found a few guys that rode an XTX and seemed pretty knowledgeable. Both guys were very happy with their Curves.

Most of what I read was very positive on the skiis. A few guys seemed to really really really hate them. From reading here and all over the web this was a very minority opinion.

Last stop of the day was at the Curve booth. I was still on the fence a little and talked with them for about 1/2 hour. Found a stick to measure the stock Yamaha ski then compared that to the Curve to make sure it would fit in my enclosed trailer. Called the wife, luckily she was pulling a skier when I called her! She answered and this is what I got "yeah buy it, gotta go bye...."

Now I can look at the skis every time I go in the garage. Pretty excited now, come on snow!!!

I suppose I made up my mind and found the research to back it up. Funny how the internet lets you find the reviews you want!

This was my first time at Hay Days. WOW is that big!
