An opinion needed..

I have the C&A XTs which are the most aggressive version. I think bottom line is the combo of heavy front end and aggressive skis (extra long keel)equals hard turning period. This is why I like to install 6.9 pilots when running hard packed and use the C&A when running fluff or soft snow conditions. I hate understeer so C&As are sometimes my friend. I hate blisters and wearing out my gloves so the Pilot skis serve a time and place too. Wish I could just swap out skis out on the trail to accommodate changing conditions.

Well trip to Gaspe was canned due to all the rain they got last night and today its pretty well finished out there. Heading North instead towards Temiscaming.

Split rails. Completely solves all problems and increases ski stance for better handling. I converted from stock. Chrome round parts rust a bit.

I had the exact same sled, with 136" stretch, with C&A razors. Turned really hard. Annoyed me enough that I sold the sled.

After I sold it to my brother I brought the shocks in and had the rears rebuilt and revalved. After the shocks had some good valving in them and the suspension sat in a little it turned and handled much better with a lot less effort. So I vote that you do that. But you probably don't have time before your trip.

Going from a 8" carbide to a 6" carbide that are both the same bar size isn't going to effect your steering effort at all. Are you running shapers now? Going to a round bar will be easier than a Shaper bar. If you're already running a Round bar, you're kinda screwed.

You could let your front limiter strap out all the way if it isn't already, and tighten the center shock/spring to lighten the front end. Might not turn as well while on the throttle tho. Otherwise a different ski is going to be your other solution. C&A is a tough turning ski.

Back from my trip and what I highlighted of your post was totally correct. If I had about 20lbs of ice buildup in the tunnel, the steering was perfect lol but the ride went for crap. A friend has some pilots he's going to let me try (we finally have snow in Ontario) and I'll see if I like them.

For anyone interested, lots of snow from Temiscaming (north bay Quebec side) and it gets better as you go north. I'll tell you if you're going, book ahead a day or two. A couple of nights we were lucky to get rooms because it was so busy, even during the week. Saw riders from eastern Quebec, Ontario, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania. Trails were awesome, but this weekend is their free weekend so it was starting to get rough in the south.
