I just had a head light on my Nytro go. I am looking at replacing it with a stock lamp but wanted to hear from you guys on upgrades you have done to improve lighting. Is there a simple lamp upgrade I can do or are there any other system upgrades I can do to get brighter head lights? I would prefer to do a "plug-n-play" upgrade. Cutting and splicing wiring on sleds usually ends up with corroded splices no matter how much shrink wrap and electrical tape you use.

You could get a set of led hid from rocks toys. They are much better than stock and even xenon bulbs. The kit is all plug and play and very easy to install. I run his kit on my et410.
The best would be a kit from Roc. HID or LED. The next best would be is to get some PIAA bulbs. After that Silverstars and you don't like those options you could always duct tape some LED flashlights to the headlight pod. Would still be better than them stock candle wattage bulbs.

- Bought a new 05 Vector which I still have
24K miles
DDM Tuning HID's on my 14 LTX. Considering LED's on my other Vector but have heard scattered reports of failures on the trail. Taking a wait n see approach for a while. Silverstars aren't worth it at all.....same yellow'ish tint to the light. Haven't run PIAA's but have heard good things about them.

My machine lights up PIAA 6000k Stratos Blue .PIAA has many choices !Draws the same from sled Hi&Lo.Different gas that makes them unique and will not burn your plastic lens or anything else.i have been shining PIAA for a long time in almost everything i own before LED and HID came out.Rocks kits are very nice ,i know many people that run his stuff,im just one that does not because my bulbs are still shining so far!

Pick your technology, then look into the models/choices available.
Incandescent (regular filament bulbs - stock, silverstars, PIAA etc.) can only get so bright. As you increase brightness it greatly reduces life, you reach the point of diminishing returns really quickly. So you will see "20% increase in brightness" but you won't ever see 400% increase in brightness. There is only so much that cam be done with a filament.
HID (high intensity discharge) has no filament, it is just a flake of metal that goes to gas as the high voltage is applied. Once the gaseous state is achieved the voltage lowers and the light will increase in intensity until the gas/voltage reaches its peak (usually 30-60 seconds). No filament to break so they are great in high impact environments. When they go bad it isn't usually the bulb but the electronics (controller/ballasts).
LED (light emitting diode) is a solid state diode on a circuit board. They can have a very long life and they are getting brighter all the time. They are much brighter than an incandescent (stock) but not quite as bright as HID (in the same wattage). LED will surpass HID in brightness probably in the next few years.
Right now the easiest upgrade with a 200%+ increase would be LED.
The brightest and most bang for the buck is HID - 300%+ increase.
We ride a LOT at night. I put HID's (55W 6000K) on our sleds before they ever get on the trail. This year I have added a 36W LED driving light as well for the close up view and it is a great addition.
