Header cracks?????

How much improvement is there with the double down pipe and porting the waste gate? I have supported the turbo and that seems to have solved my problem. I have a single down pipe that has not broken, the header has cracked twice. The sled now has 1700 turbo miles on it, riding trail in the muskokas (huntsvill, ontario).

Did the kit not come with a plate to cover those holes off?

No the kit did not come with a plate. I also asked when I was imstalling the kit if I should fab something up. The response was well if you run in alot of powdr blok it off. But I was lead to believe it was'nt nessasary.

Correct me if Im wrong thats the downpipe that was come apart isn't it?
Yes it is the down pipe that is broke also. I welded it back together and added gussets, and I hope it lasts.
I had a rear mount bender for 2 seasons and sold to to another guy and he is in his 3rd season with no failures with the kit what so ever.
The worst of this nightmare that it is'nt my sled. I recomended this kit to this guy and I put it on and now I'm stuck working on it constantly. I feel bad for this guy, he spent alot of money. I was hopeing he would get the realiable service I got with the bender.

That really sucks. You probably don't want to hear it but I would get in touch with Dave at powderlites. Even though we had our differences in the past I truely beleive he is the best builder out there and also the most innovative. Im sure he can help.

I hope I don't jinx myself, but when I put my CPR kit in, I made a little plate to deflect snow, but still let air around it where the old pipes came out. Quenching hot metal w/snow might not be the best thing if you are hanging that much weight on the header and banging through bumps. Maybe that's why I'm not having cracking issues. My trails suck and I am paranoid about everything, but so far no issues w/the header. I think about the weight of the turbo on that header every time I jam a bump, but so far boost is excellent and no leaks.

alpines new header is built with a different process and out of the 20 or so they have out there not one has cracked. they have pics on there website. Also it responds better then any I have ever rode and I have tried a few.

does alpine make a header or a cpr???

Alpine makes their own header for their kit, I'm not sure about other kits but if they continue with the success they are having with this design/process I'm sure they will start building for some of the other front mount kits as well.

That header does look like it would flow better than the cpr, also the down pipe looks stronger than the mild steel one cpr uses. What is the header made from or what is it coated with?

If you like that header and down pipe,,,,,,you need to take alook at the Powderlites header and Double Down Pipe. There's alot of power in the exhaust that most leave on the table

That downpipe is nowhere near what Dave is building, the header looks cool though!
