Heat shield at exhaust flange

Bringing a old post back up. Hey mark this fix looks right up my alley! I will be using a OEM bud light can. Only question is when you say backside you mean the can is touching against the flange correct? Thanks Chris!

My viper has a piece on both sides. Been there 2 years.

Yes Chris, can goes on inside against the flange;)!

I added 2 layers of aluminum tape and its stiff enough now where it hasn't touched the exhaust flange in over 600 miles.

Well the repair went well. Think bud light will give me advertising money! LOL! Maybe overboard with both sides and riveted but last time I should have to do it! Thanks mark for idea!

OMG, you made the heavy side even heavier....rivets, what were you thinking....

On the brighter side, Bud Light showing inside the engine compartment is worth 3HP. Way to go:Rockon:

Use a small file and hit the exhaust flange take away the sharp edges that rub on heat blanket. wont wear one bit in stock form no need for the beers. No wear marks yet 2000 miles later. I did add some aluminium tape just to keep it ridged so it wasn't so flimsy and it helped it keep it in position. so it wasn't rubbing or touching it at all.
