If you want your shield to turn off when the ignition turns off, as Upton said, there is a plug down by the chain case on the right hand side, and you can buy the heated shield plug that plugs into it at an Arctic Cat dealer, and presumably at a Yamaha dealer as well. When conditions are bad, I use my heated shield, even when I am stopped with the engine off, so I wired direct to the battery. Just be sure to use a fuse on the positive wire if you hitch direct to the battery.

So funny story, I finally got around to installing the harness and pulled the speedo sensor off the chain case. That makes a guys smile!!! Guess brake clean and rtv are in my future..
