Heavy Steering

Went sledding with a buddy, he has a 02 Viper. I could not believe the difference in effort moving his handle bars vrs mine Apex ER. Stock 4" carbides on both. There had to be 10 pounds difference in the weight required to move the handle bars. I have the limiter strap out as far as it will go, as well as minimum transfer setup in suspension. I would like to lighten up as much as possible. Any advice will be welcomed

If you had the warm conditions most of the midwest had, that is a good part of the reason. The stock ski has a tall keel and it can really sink in when the snow is soft.

Other than the obvious that the Apex is heavier than the Vipe, maybe set the ski shock spring(s) preload to soft as will keep the spring from rattling?RR

It has nothing to do with conditions, otherwise the viper would have had equally heavy steering also.
Try to lighten your front ski springs to full loose when elevated, this is not much, its about 5/8" threads showing which is about 1/8" less than stock setup. If thats not enough, search member Bobb and check his posts as he had some effective mods to really lighten it up and add traction too.

apex has 30-40 more lbs on the front skis compared to the viper.. NATURE OF THE BEAST

Ive got a 13mm swaybar and 8 inch carbides.. just imagine how much harder mine steers!

Workout... and stay on the gas... stears easier when on the gas...

You stated that you had your sled setup for min transfer?? This will surely make your sled harder to turn.Put the adjuster in the middle and test from there.
