Helmet Speakers!

I play music on sled & bike via my I-pod. It helps me concentrate or i start to daydream. I prefer ear buds over speakers so it drowns out surrounding sound & really lets the music be crystal clear. Some come with noise reduction that AMAZINGLY block out ALL the outside annoying noises, but can be very expensive. I use small squishy buds that fit into ear & cable loops over ears. I have a control button on wire that i place right near my face so i can pop open my mask & adjust or turn off to talk to people. Then my cable runs down my jacket to internal pocket. The blue tooth models are very good, but drains battery a little quicker & not sure how long batteries last & i ride ALL freakin' day. Some buds can run $500, but i found the $20 to $40 range work excellent. Once you start riding with music, you'll never ride without again. I've turned many & lost NONE.

P.S. 1 They say music calms the Savage Beast. Unless you listen to DISTURBED....then i will pass you and you will not see me until some BEACH BOYS start to play

P.S. 2 Stay away from sad sappy songs while riding. Tears will freeze on your face...
Haha thanks for the input on song choices I'll make sure to arrange my playlist accordingly. My only problem with ear buds, is that they tend to fall out of my ears when I slide my helmet on and its a pain to get them back in. That's why I was asking if there were any good helmet speakers out there that won break the bank. It's going to be awhile before the snow flies here so I got some time to get it figured out.

I have listened to music for years. I have used a variety of speakers in my helmet including a short stint with earbuds. I currently have Sena 20S speakers in my HJC CL16.

It is a bit of a pain (literally) to get them positioned so that they do not put pressure on my ears. I do not like anything directly in my ear, (like the buds), because of the possible serious injuries in the case of an impact. Also, my ears are such that I have never found a real comfortable pair for both ears. Usually either one or the other is good, but not both.

I disagree. But that's just me.
Ive done many 500+ mile days on motorcycles over the decades, and many 300+ mile days on sleds without music.
Especially in traffic i find the music to be a distraction.
But that's just my opinion...

500+ miles on a bike? I've got saddle sores just thinking about it! You must have a nice aftermarket seat like a Corbin or Mustang. Both are on my watch list for my Magna.

My FZ1 saw many 500-700 mile days. The factory seat would get me 400 miles easy. Once i had the seat modified/customized it was easy to do 500-700.

My GL1800 (Goldwing) had the factory seat. 700 miles was a piece of cake.

Ya, everybody is different. My mind races too much without tunes. I don't go to sleep in silence either. If i don't have a fan near my head...no sleepy nite nite for me.

I will say no matter how good the speakers, you will still have ambient noise especially wind in your ears.
I wear a lycra headsock & that keeps my buds in nice & snug. On my bike they start to get loose every 100 miles or so.

I ride mostly backcountry and I feel the music helps my riding skills. For some reason I feel more confident when I have some music blaring. Mostly rock and heavy metal tunes are what get me going!

Edit: Except you goofed by refering to Nickelback as Metal!

I used to DJ mixes for radio shows. So i have always made my own mixes. Not just playlists, But organized mixes. I make them an hour a piece, sometimes 2 hours, and they are mixed in key and progressive flowed.

It creates a nice rythem that you could get lost in. Ive done EDM, Hip Hop, upbeat dance and the like. Havnt done any rock mixes though.

This one is short (25min) and hip hop but an example...

Great list! That style of music makes up most of my list, but i found i had to add some Barry White, Beach Boys & a couple country tunes so others can catch up. My friends can tell what's playing by how close they can stay to me. lol
