Went for a 190 mile ride today. After we had gone about 75 miles, the sled started to backfire. It did it when I would slow down for a curve or to stop at a road crossing. When I tried to get back on the throttle after slowing down, it would not accelerate until the sled came almost to a complete stop, then it would back fire 1 or 2 times then I was good to go, until the next time I had to slow down. Then it would do the whole thing all over again. If I was running at constant speed it was OK. The sled ran fine other then that, no problem with wide open spirts, until I would slow down. Sled is stock, except for ECP filter kit. About 2,500 miles on sled. Only diference I saw today was I got about 18 MPH, usually I get 15 MPH. Anybody have any ideas. I will have to give my dealer some ideas of what it could be, because I don't think my dealer could change a spark plug, and I serious. I had to put the new RA cable, boot, protective bracket, and new W arm bushings on for him. Thanks for any ideas.

I think it sounds like you might have a TORS problem. Check throttle cable to make sure it isn't binding or something catching in your lever. Maybe some moisture got into the cable or linkages.

Check your vent lines (carb plumbing) Those CV carbs are finicky and if the lines are not routed exactly correct problems as you describe can persist. As suggested it would be good to bypass TORS too to see if that is your problem.

I'm with SKi-Dog check those vent lines and make sure one isn't piched behind the ECP filter boots & the flap. Very easy to do.

I had exactly the same problem early in the winter! Bypass the T.O.R.S at the carb location! Very easy to do!
