I purchased a new APEX and a new 2005 skidoo 500ss with the non-adrenaline shocks.
I went out this week end put on 400 miles in the trails and the sled was a real handful compared to the 500SS.
The Apex is a disaster on the trails, it darts everywhere, my buddy didn't even want to ride it - even though it has more balls than the 500ss. The SS is a dream compared to the Apex, and I'm pissed that it costs 50% more than the SS.
As long as you are on the gas (and the ski's are in the air), the Apex goes straight but anytime they're on the ground they suck.
Anyways, I need help to straighten this out. I'm 205lbs. I noticed he Skidoo's skis are concave and the Apex's are convex, not sure if that matter. Any help would be appreciated.

The used Attak I bought had the skis set at 1" toe out once corrected to 1/4" toe in with the Slydogs it is much better.

Duel Runners would cure the darting, and set the control rod to MIN. That will help keep the front end down.

Shim the skis, add ski savers, replace the skis, pull up the limiter strap, reduce your pre-load, increase your pre-load.
Use the search, this topic is prob 2nd only to handwarmer bitching. Shimming did nothing for my darting. Woodys Doolys cured it for me, minimal push. Gonna try new skis next year probably Simmons.

Where are your limiter straps set?? Where is the transfer set?? Is this a GT, RTX, or ER?? How is the front suspension set up? Where is the rear spring set?? I don't think aftermarket skii's are necessary, they may be better but i think it can be set up good without. A little more info is needed to get you in the right direction. Good ski alignment is also necessary, my handle bars were crooked as well as the toe out was off.

My Apex darted fairly badly, even after shimming and checking the alignment. So did the wife's Vector. I put Dooly's on the Vector and she loves them.
As for the Apex, my local dealer recommended these....

I was skeptical...but damn..they work well!!
Totally tamed the darting. Sled handles great.

Apex darting
I put the Woody's Doolies on and it cured the darting. I am not sure that this is the best solution, I think that there are more issues here than just the runners. Shimming the skis did ZERO to help the problem. My Apex GT is still pushing in the corners, and I have tried a lot of different suspension settings. It's very frustrating.

I have an Apex GT.
I have no idea how my sled is set up.
I know the front shocks are set in the middle, ie i think there is 10 or 20 clicks, whatever there are and they are both set in the middle.
The rear I'm not sure.
Ok Doo's pilot skis, are those the one on my 05 500SS or are they different.
What are Woody's dooly's?

If you have an 05 doo then chances are you have Precisions. The 06 Doos came with the Pilot 5.7's
I hear alot of talk about these simmons skis but am having a hard time trying to find a link to a website.

This is likely a good part of your your problem. You need to check to see if it is set up to factory settings for starters and go from there. I went over my GT from front to back and made sure it was set to spec and track and Skii's were aligned.
Sled was close to spec but not right on when I checked it.
My sled does not dart. Ski's will track a little in some conditions, but nothing compared to some Poo's and Yammies I have owned in the past.
Track stays glued to the trail.
I suggest you check it over yourself if you are comfortable doing that. If not hire someone else to do it.
The shimming will help the darting, but will make it harder to steer.
Doolies are dual runners by Woody's. They help darting but some say they push in the soft stuff.
There is about a months worth of reading on here on the subject if you do a search.
Remember, most things are a compromise.
Good luck on your hunt.

Attak....stock skis, bergstrom triple points, ski savers and shimmed....darting is gone.
Are you studded and how many?....that also makes a difference in what you run for carbides.

Sled darting.
Two simple steps cured this problem for me.
Installing Woodies Duel runners on the skis and taking the limiter strap up enough to keep the skis on the ground when you get into the throttle.
Hope this helps.
