The jackshaft and trackshaft both have that spacer with the O-ring inside and they are the very first things to go on, that’s how they keep oil from leaking out of the chaincase around the shafts.

It should be spacer w/ O-ring, 2nd spacer and then gear and the rest of your parts. At least that is how my non-reverse case is setup.
