Help code 42 and 84

42 is the speed sensor, and 84 is the TORS.
Just check the wiring and connections first, or email me and I can email you back the entire service manual if that doesnt help.

Where is the speed sensor? I have the belt off and was reving it for the first 2 min then it started sputteringand wouldnt rev up. New somthing was up and put the cluster back on to see if there was s code. Sure enough there was, i was reving it up prety high when it cut out.

The speed sensor is the small star looking wheel on the end of the drive axle on the left side below the secondary clutch.
I'm thinking about this for a bit, but wondering if revving it without the belt on past a certain rpm might make the sled think it should be moving, therefore spits out a code because its not reading anything for mph? Not really sure about this one.. I know in some newer cars if you rev them enough in neutral (or clutch pushed in while in gear on a manual) the speedometer will go up just a bit, and the ABS light will go off. It might just get p!$$ed off because it revved beyond a speific rpm?
The TORS may have activated if the motor was free-spinning and the throttle blades were held oped for a split second when you let off by the volume of air entering the motor. There's an issue with that on the boosted forums from time to time.
My guess is to just put the belt back on, maybe disconnect the battery cable for a bit and try that?
I'll try to read up here and see if I can find anything.

You should always have the cluster on when running, IMO. I believe it does serve some function as monitoring and feedback to the ECU, and without it certain functions can't be analized by the computer.

Much appriciated! 2 days ago the sled was pretty much stripped down to chassie as i have a few projects going on like new donuts, gears, track and exhaust. Was planing to do gears and track sat(tomorrow) so the skid is off because i was putting my rail extensions. Thats the reason why the belt was off because i wanted to check new donuts and exhaust with out the track moving. Like i said it started and reved awsome for a few min then started to limp. We r getting snow on sun so i have to get it going if u know what i mean.

i had to remove my secondary clutch for a brief momment if this had anything to do with it, but like i said i started and ran normal after reinstall. i didnt have cluster on so i dont know if code was on since start up. i gutted my exhaust and was cracking the throttel to see the 2 foot flames it was shooting out. by the time i took my phone out to vid it it started to limp.

Did you replace the speedo bearing , usually those codes come up because that bearing is bad ,

took out the speedo pick up and trips the tors for saftey.

The motor saw that there was engine RPM, but no speed being shown, this caused the code. Put the clutches on and the belt on and spin the track a few times and the code should clear itself.

Ok good ill go through and finish assembly of new parts then, hopefull that lower gear comes in mail today. Thank you. Btw when did u ship the lower?

thank u allen ulmer, got it all back togather, gears are in, belt is on, fired up gave it half a spin and the codes went away:)
