HELP FLAMES SHOOTING OUT MY AFTERMARKET DUAL EXHAUST

Hi guys I installed a stainless steel full exhaust system on my 09 nytro last season. its the only mod that was done to the sled.
It came in 4 pieces and there was a bit of a gap when i slipped one piece over the other, so i uses exhaust cement and a clamps on them. It worked great the first trip up north had a big difference in power.
Well the next time i went out, I was coming to a quick stop, I let off the throttle and a blue flame shot out the tail pipes. This would happen every time i took my thumb off the throttle. So I figured out, if i slowly let off the throttle, but still had my thumb on it I would get the back pressure popping, and didn't get any flames.

So what to you think is causing this? because I'm hearing so many different problems, I think the joints aren't sealed properly and when i let off the gas air is creping in, causing it, and others think I need to add a power commander to get the mapping.

Man most people pay extra for that (flames)

It is probably a rich condition with unburnt fuel flowing into the hot pipe and igniting when you let off especially with the pressure of the backshift on the clutching pushing the motor. These after market pipes do not have the sprak arrestors in them like the stock muffler and the back pressure is reduced.

I used to run Hauck Gyt-R-dun pipes on all of my rx's and apex's and had the same situation. It ws worse on my RX with the carbs vs fuel injection.

I also have a 1968 Dodge dart with a built motor and just open tubed turnouts at mid car with 850 holley on it and when I get on it and let off it looks like the car is on fire at night.

What Yamadog said. The lack of back pressure and no chambers will cause flames to come out the exhaust tips.

I had a stock 07 apex that would do the same thing i loved it run wide open throttle for a bit and just let go of the flipper and she would put out a flame that would blind the person behind me at night big ball as high as my head and then some took it to the dealer 3 times under yes each time it was donuts then y pipe then clamps and donuts they never solved it and it never gave me any trouble. it was figured that there had to be a crack somewhere that was allowing air into the exhaust and providing enough oxygen in to the mix for ignition of the unspent fuel being lit by the heat of the pipes but no one ever found that "crack" in the system and she never gave me a lick of trouble but it was stock i thought it was playing with fire (pun kinda intended) when you put a complete exhaust in without a fule controller. I thought it could cause damage to the motor but i know you are not getting the full potentil of the pipes without one. contact allen ulmer he will get you set straight with it he is a great guy to work with.

Where did you buy the pipes from? They look like the ones that nate007 made a couple yrs ago and some stuff went down and he didn't end up selling many of them. There was a bunch of knock off's that sold on Ebay that aren't the prototype model. Again if those aren't it disregard that but if they are you may want to contact him. I have the same exhaust on my Nytro. Yes they are Nates knockoff pipes. I am the one that blew the whistle on it. I am also running small intake filters pc5,ignition module and autotuner. Once I get a map set up I can send It to you. All you should have to do is the intake filters and the map should be close enough for a pc5. I wish it would have went the other way for Nate cause the pipe really wakes up the sled. Let me know if you want the map. Shane

well your dead on, I added the PC5 and still had it happen, so I did a test opened it up and locked my brakes/trak up and no flames so it is the clutch causing the extra fuel into the pipes.
and ive put 6000km on with it doing this and i still havent had one issue with the engine or electrical on my nytro so i dont think its hurting anything

I have it on my sons Nytro and its pretty awesome. You cant beat it for the price.
