I am putting the cover back on my chaincase. (Apex GT) Something doesn't seem quite right: the last half inch or so is under spring tension (the reverse yoke??) just before the chaincase is closed. I don't remember noticing this tension when I opened the case. This is happening with the reverse linkage in the "forward" position. If I put it in "reverse" there is no resistance from the spring and the cover slides closed easily.
This just doesn't seem right to me. Seems like the yoke would rub if I ran the sled.
I made 3 phone calls, but noone could help.
Advice, please!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the cover off to put in a new top gear and change the oil.

Thanks to anyone that can help. I want to get this thing back together before I forget where all those parts go!

Just did mine today also and ran into the same problem. You have to loosen the linkage and get the reverse fork to sit into the groove around the bottom gear. Once you get the cover on 1/2 way, try and look down into case and line up the fork so it'll go into the groove. Kind of a pain...I had to do it twice before I got my reverse back.

the 2 small idler gears for reverse can be a pain, put a dab of grease between them to hold the outside gear in and make sure the small spring between them stays in place.
