I have a 07 Venture Lite.
After my past Sunday ride, I somehow managed to leave the key in the on position, draining my battery. I discovered this yesterday, so I removed the battery from the sled and put it on a 2 amp trickle charger for 10 hours and placed the battery back on the sled, but still no go. I then tried boosting it from a power box power pak ... still nothing. No lights on the speedo whatsoever.
I have placed a call to my dealer, but was told to leave a message for the service tech to get back to me. Guess he will call me back tomorrow.
Is there a reset, or something I can do without taking it to the dealer? It's still under warranty, but how will I load it in the truck if it can't start?
Seems like a simple problem, but very frustrating, especially with the weekend only a day away ... I wanna ride this thing!
I have also posted this in the "Need a fix" forum.

this may sound like a dumb question, but did you hit the kill switch and forget to pull it back up?

not a dumb question, i wouldnt be surprised if people brought to the dealer and the dealer charged 400$ just to pull up the switch
now that is dumb

Thats would be funny if thats what it was. I've done that before when taking a break from riding, I'll go to start it back up and it'll take me a couple seconds to realize the kill switch is engaged.
But, if that is not the problem, maybe since you ran it all the way dead, you killed it for good.

I did the charge and boost thing once when I had hit the kill switch by accident. Easy enough to do. Hopefully that's all your problem is. Topper

Talk about egg on the face ... YES, I did.
Just went back to the shed and checked ... sure enough, the kill switch was on.
Plenty of lights on the speedo now. Started her up and letting her warm up right now.
I know I'm getting older, but certainly not wiser.
I wonder if really did drain the battery by leaving the kill switch on with the key left on?
Thank you for the speedy reply cdsgraphic, and yes, I do feel like an idioit now ... but laughing about it and much happier that I can ride the weekend.

doh! hehehe!
If you did have the kill switch off the whole time... you didn't kill the battery. it kills all power just like turning the key off.

Good to know.
Well at least I know the battery is fully charged.
All I have to do now is grow a second brain cell so Mr. Stupidhead here can remember to check the kill switch next time.
Thanks again.

Glad you got it all sorted out.. I'm pretty sure that the phazer has a "safety" or whatever, i've left mine on before, and it shuts itself off after a while..
