I need to replace one of the front inside idler wheels on my 2005 Venture GT. I have no idea on how to do it. Can anyone out there help or point me in the right direction to download a free service manual? On one pic I circled an area that looks quite worn. Should this be replaced as well? 88302207_10156481700121741_6285988802984935424_n.jpg 88955685_10156481700176741_1786328485258592256_n.jpg 88980128_10156481700051741_3019930911866093568_n.jpg 88984091_10156481700296741_2936230185474719744_n.jpg

I think you can start by removing the bolt (#7) on the outside of the rail that goes into the shaft that the wheel is on. The part that "looks worn" appears to be the inner bearing race from the "broken" wheel. Once the bolt is out, the silver "spacer" part #24 (right of your blue circle) should come out, then the old bearing race should come out. The new wheel will have the bearing in it, and should slide on after you remove the old bearing race. Not too big of a deal, once the bolt is out it should be a no brainer. Because the sled is 15 years old you might want to spray some penetrating oil on the parts the night before you start wrenching.

Thanks for responding THKSNOW and 74Nitro. Would I need to remove the shock as well? I removed the bolt (#7) but how do I get the shaft/spacer above the rail to get it off? This may sound dumb, lol, but I am no mechanic when it comes to sleds.

It would be a good idea to pull the whole skid as there are probably other issues. But if you have no mechanical experience or help, you'd be over your head in a hurry. You might need to un bolt the bracket that holds the shock, not sure. Did you try lightly prying on the spacer?

I did try prying on it a little THKSNOW. It would move maybe 3/8" or a little better.

if you unbolt the link to the w arm, it should come above the rail so you can slide the shaft out. that is how i do them on 11 apex witch is set up similar.

This one maim?

i unbolt the other one, to the right in pic, as that one cannot be put back in with wheels on. hope you are planning on replacing both wheels while you are at it.
