From current owners of 2011s, is there any reason a guy thats had a few Attak & Apex LTXs would not be happy with a Apex XTX?
Cornering? mileage? ride? engine? handwarmers? etc?
I plan on moving my Razor skis with aggressive bars over to the XTX & thats about it, other than a short black windshield!
Was hoping for something different, but its time to swap the 09!
Thanks Guys!

My 2011 xtx is 10X the sled.
Mono skid sux in deep snow & big bumps.
XTX skid does everything well.
Handwarmers are a lot better but need to be 20% better on -20 days.
I can get 100 miles riding it like a rental before light comes on.
Corners very well with limiters sucked up & usi skiis.
The engine is a sudectress!!!

I am running 6" stud boy shapers
Sucking up the limiters 1 notch worked well for me.

I was think'n of put'n Deuce Bars on my Razors, but it doesn't look like they make them!
May be too aggressive anyway!?
6" Shapers are what I'm running now on my LTX.

Jusr rode the demo sleds at colebrook N.H. today, all i can say is the 2011 and 2012 sleds with power steering,WORK... man what a differance over the ones w/out it. We rode the 2011 vector rs xtx w/out PS that sled did not do it for me,its a 136 that handles and rode like my 06 attak, next sled was the 2012 apex se w/fox float and 128 mono skid, very nice, but the floats were not set up plush, and it bucked you same as my 06 apexgt w/poor valving, but steering was awsome, and on the small tight trails we were on,i could not notice any extra power from the exhaust, and that goes for all of the apex's we tried,ok next was the 2012 apex xtx dule shocks 144 tip ups, sits higher, and feels a little tippy, and ride a little firmer than a mono rear skid, put stayed planted thru the turns, ride was good, but not great, now standard apex 128 w/standard mono out back and standard shocks up front, this was the closest sled to my riding style,it ripped thru the twisties, and stayed planted, rode the best,of all the yamaha sleds we tested, and just felt great, the PS awsome, you can really feel it,last was the 2012 nytro rtx with fox evol x shocks up front, and was the 121 or 128 shortie not the xtx,it rode ok,front felt good, but not great,it still felt like a nytro, and not an apex,i am an apex fan,and not an nyto fan, overall yamaha hats off. And we did drive the new doos, all i can say,is they push bad, feel way to light, and seemed funky to us,all three of us,felt the same. yamaha came out on top, good job,but drop the price by at least 2 grand, before i will ever buy another new sled.

Turk, Does the XTX have a little taller, firmer seat than the 09-10 LTX?
Where do you have your rear suspension set?
You weigh?

The 2011's and 2012's (all Apex versions) have a 2" taller seat from '06 - '10 version. The foam is also allegedly more firm than the prior model. But even so, I've heard guys complaining it's still not tall enough, what they did with the seat on the 2011's. But 2" more is better than before!!!!!

I am 6'3" and the seat could be taller for me. That being said, this is the first stock Yamaha seat I've been able to ride 200+ mi. on and not be sore. Nice firm foam and a slight bump at the back that doesn't beat your tailbone up. I've added a +2" Lake Effect riser and have a perfect seating and handlebar position for trail riding.

Good to hear. I'm 6'2 and get the biggest sore butt on my Attak. I added 2 in of firm foam too on the inside to help.
I'd like to get into a XTX.

I rode a 2011 base Apex over the weekend. I hated it. The front end was all over the place. We tried sucking up the limiter, adjusting ski pressure, adjusting transfer rod. It helped but when I rode it I did not have the same in control feeling that I do when I ride my Attak. It felt like I was always on the edge of control.
It was fast as heck. I got it up to 104 speedo which is faster than my Attak. It just didn't feel like it had the same amount of pull on the bottom end.

I have 2,200mi on my apex xtx, and the only problems i had is my right hand wormer stoped working last weekend and i had to put excell wheels so the hyfax would not wearout after 300mi. Other then that i love this sled.

Is that sled run the ps like the 2012 models we demoed? And does it have the 128 skid,if so i thought it railed, and rode awsome,i do hope that with the right amount of pressure in the se fox float model,it can be made to ride alot better than the demo one we tried.KevinS said:I rode a 2011 base Apex over the weekend.
