I have been having trouble with the TORS switch, could it be stuck? Manual tells me to disconnect to get running, I am working on that now. Code 84 has come up numerous times while riding.
All it does is sputter when cranking over. I started it last night for first time since November and it started harder than usual, sputtered a few tiems then finally started. When I put it away in November the TORS code 84 came on as I was entering trailer.
Do these switches on the carb go bad? or coudl it be micro switch on handlebar?

Usually, the sled will still start if there's a code 84 (TORS), it just won't run up beyond idle. Nevertheless, I would disconnect the TORS system as shown in your owner's manual (a PDF of the owner's manual is downloadable from the Yamaha web site). That oughta be your next step.
If you have a bad TPS, or a stuck microswitch at the carbs or throttle lever, that might indeed keep the thing from starting.

I think you may have cold fouled the plugs as well. Sometimes the other problems (TORS, tps, etc.) will throw the code, but then the plugs will foul if you are trying to start it too much, making things worse.
I'd start with plugs, then go from there.. Just don't let it run for a few seconds if you do get it running. Let it idle long enought to get some heat in it. You 'll have less of a chance of fouling again.

The SkiDOo dealer just north of the Great Northern Hotel would be the only place I would know to try. If not, they'll know where to tel lyou to go. They're right on trail 17 onteh south side of town.

Plugs can be a pain to change, especially if you only have the tools n the tool pouch. Remove the key panel, the coolant overflow reservoir, and the 4 10mm bolts holding each of the coils. (one on each) theyre buried in there pretty good, so expext to spend about an hour at it if your doing it outside.. Once you've done it a few times, you should be able to change them within about 15 -20 minutes.

A friend had a similar sounding problem. He would start and stop the sled without warming up, then the sputter, and no start. It was plugs. They must be warmed fully before shutting down. But no code 84. You might have two issues going on. There are a few posts here somewhere how to easily change the plugs.

Keep in mind...I dont think you can just unplug the TORS wires...you have to bypass it. You have to unplug the black and white plugs in the rubber wire boot under the key panel/gauge pod area and plug them into each other (black plug into white plug {sled side} and black plug into white plug {Handlebar side}. Both black and white plugs are the only single wire plugs in the cluster of wires there.
