For the guys that have read some of my recent posts, I wanted to learn how to clean my carbs so I asked a lot of questions on here and eventually went for it. While taking the screws off the bowls I stripped 1 and had a hell of a time getting it out and broke one of the carb heater housings.

Finally got my parts from portyamaha and fixed the broke part and finished cleaning the carbs and changed out the screws to hex bolts. I drained teh old gas and put in new. Also put a little gas into the fuel hose that goes to carbs and sled fired right up.

I let the sled run for a while and noticed that the idle was all over. One minute it would be 1,000 then to 1300 then 1500 then back down etc. There was no consistency. I ordered a Morgan Carb tuner and should get it within the next week and a half. Does this sound like it just needs a carb tune? I know a few members cleaned theirs and then used carb tuner and wondering if your sled did the same until you synced the carbs with the tuner.

Next issue is my belt. I ordered a new belt and installed it. I quickly checked my clutches and they seam to be in spec but sometimes it looks like the belt is sagging. Sometimes it looks like its just touching the metal plate guard at bottom of the clutches that protects the hose. This is a brand new belt and I ordered the right one for my sled so I know its not a stretched belt. Is this normal also? when I engage the clutches the belt tightens up and looks normal but it did sound like it slipped onces after I put the new belt on. Then theres times when I shut the sled off and the belt looks like it should and no belt sag while other times it sags quiet a bit. I don't understand this. I did install an Ulmers clutch kit but I did it exactly by the instructions that came with it and from the sight.

Any insight would help

The idle bouncing all over is usually poor fuel metering.
Sync, vacuum leak(s), choke(s) not fully seating, and/or debris in the carbs are some possible causes.

Air in the lines could also do it, have you run it much since re-installing the carbs?

Once the belt bas broken in, most likely the sag will even out and be fine.
(It still has the hourglass shape from packing & shipping & stops at different points in the curve.)

Thanks Rock.

Once I put the carbs back on I'm confident there shouldn't be any leaks with the seals of the rubber housing to the carbs and engine. I used a tiny bit of fresh oil around the rubber and they slid right in to where they were before. I then let the sled run about 15 minutes and shut it off due to the idle flux after it didnt go away. I have the carb tune coming soon so I didn't want to take a chance messing something up until I get the carbs synced before I take it apart again to check other options. Hoping they just need to be synced now.
