Yes as far as I know it should be exactly the same.
Also i wanted to mention some guys had said they lost top end with a modified pipe, this actually makes sense if you have stock jetting and open up the flow whether exhaust or intake you have to add more fuel otherwise your just leaning it out and I havent seen a fourstroke that has come from the factory rich yet.

As far as the track I toned it down quite a bit when my son started riding on it,filled the doubles in and made step down tripples out of them.I rented a big loader for 80.00hr thats mostly how I filled the jumps in to make it safer. Now my son complains its to easy,he has a yz85.Theres more to the track but I wont run the sled on the other parts.

Wow your sled is quiet, I can hear the exhaust and the filters. Mine is MUCH louder then that with a stock muffler, I thought I had my track howl taken care of but there is no way I could hear the skis skimming across the ground like that. Looks like I need a quiet track!
do you cut the hole tube on both lines

Kinger your sure your muffler is stock?05,s stock seem to be slightly louder than 03 04 and the 06 seems to be slightly louder than 05.
tofast ,yes just cut the two tubes completely out of the center section.Thats how mine is anyhow.

If I am looking at this correctly. The exhaust comes into the middle chamber then enters the tube that runs parallel with the ones you cut and is perforated. It then shoots to the outsides goes into the main pipe and out the opposite side of the muffler. What did you do the first time you made some mods?

Thats exactly how the exhuast is routed.Once you cut the two tubes out then it just comes in the center then out.Im sure some of the exhaust still goes into the outer chambers but I think this helps to keep the noise level down.Thats why I didnt cut anything else out,to keep noise level down as much as possible and still get the sound I was looking for.
As far as first muffler mod I just cut an opening so that the exhaust didnt have to go through the perforated tubes. Now that the tubes are out what I did originally doesnt matter. Also the first muffler mod just made it ever so slightly louder and had the same sound as stock just slightly deeper. But since I rode another yamaha that was modded with the tubes out I knew thier was a better sound to be had.Heres a picture of the first mod.

If you notice the distance from the outer layer of the muffler to where the tubes sit on my 05 muffler above VS the picture on page 1 (I asume thats from as 03,04)the 03 04 are closer to the top,so it should make it easier to remove them.

Loud Sleds
cost trails. I have had to work with land owners to keep trails. Loud sleds are always one of the top complaints.

Yes i love the sound.I rode 323 miles today, trails are awesome here for the first time all year.
I let a buddy of mine who has a stock thundercat ride my sled for a while.Just to give you guys an Idea of how loud it is,riding behind my sled on the stock thundercat anything farter back than 20 feet I couldnt even hear my sled if I got closer say 10 to 15 feet I could only barely hear it when he got on it.Much quieter than any aftermarket pipe ive heard.Oh and im pretty sure his next sled will be a yamaha by the way he was talking.
So its not something that is going to "close trails" it is louder than stock but just about every other sled made is louder than the yamaha fourstrokes. I do agree loud sleds close trails.Ive said it several times in this thread I do not want to have a loud sled I just want a better sound, ive got that now.

Actually instead of cutting the can and pipes open with die grinder or sawz-all.
Just go into muffler with 1-1/2 Uni-bit carbide hole cutter.
Or cutter size what ever the diameter the pipes are.
Drilling through the can and pipe at the same time.
Now you only have to patch the outer shell closed. A clean cut circle.
I dought any gain is made by making the hole larger than the pipe. diameter.

My buddy did the exhaust mod to his 06 nytro and it sounded wicked much better than stock, but a week later he came across a great deal on a rumble pack for it and bought it and it sounds great aswell,as a matter of fact i still think the stock mod was just as good or better than the rumble pack but sence then he sold the sled and has the stock mod in the garage collecting dust lol and is now going to sell it so if someone wants one but dont want to cut there stock one up heres your chance make him an offer and i will get back to you as i dont know what he wants for it or what its worth for that matter but im sure someone here do.Here are some pics of it i took before and after.

Would you guys say this is reversible? Like would I be able to weld the pipes back into the muffler if I didn't like the cut out sound?

Just thought about this right after I posted that ^^^. Is there anything inside those tubes like some sort of steel mesh or something or are they just hollow pieces of pipe? If they are just hollow pieces of pipe then I should be able to weld them back in if need be shouldn't I?
